"We could....do with somebody in Mournhold. You know Mournhold right? It's your capital after all, seat of the King among other things." Elbert started, speaking a little arrogantly as she did so "I've heard tell of an intriguing fellow in the city who has started work on a Robot Arena as it's called. In truth it's basically just salvaged and no doubt hastily put together Dwemer technology, but I know of very few people who can work such things. Therefore I want you....Avoni, to find him and pen notes. See what he's done, see what you can learn and report back to me. Understood?"
The Dunmer girl suffice to say wasn't perhaps as ecstatic as she was walking in. She expected a bit more exciting work, perhaps field experience in learning and casting better magic! Being nothing more than an informant or akin to a journalist wasn't really engaging work and she thought Edwinna could have just got somebody outside of the Guild to do it. On the other hand she was of the lowest rank so doing lowly work was something to be expected, and getting in the good graces of a high ranking member would surely benefit in the long-term!
Truthfully Edwinna just wanted the girl out of her hair so she could continue with her work. She already knew everything she needed about the man.
With some hastily given instructions and a dismissive wave, Avoni was sent on her way to Ebonheart. Ebonheart was a predominantly Imperial settlement on Vvardenfell and it showed in the architecture. For all intents and purposes, she could have fooled herself into thinking she was in the Imperial heartland rather than on the frontier! Especially with the multitude of foreign faces around. But she had a job to do and there wasn't much to sight-see anyways! As travel between Vvardenfell and the Mainland was forbidden under conventional means due to the quarantine, she had to see a Mages Guild associate named Asciene Rane who provided teleportation. After a brief exchange and a flash of light, Avoni found herself in entirely different surroundings.
"Another one?" a gruff voiced sounded behind the young Elven girl, making her turn around in shock to find a heavily armoured man stood before her. His armour was red and shiny, clearly well kept and clean with a V-slit view in the helm and a chainmail skirt around the bottom of the breastplate. "You look confused, don't you know where you are? This is the Royal Palace."
"A-ah the Palace, so this is Mournhold?" Avoni stammered in reply, looking around at her surroundings. She seemed to be in an atrium of sorts and the walls and decorations did seem very regal.
"Just so. I guess I should be the first to greet you. Welcome to Mournhold, city of light, city of magic!"
Contrary to many house guards and certainly Ordinators of Vvardenfell, the guard seemed to be relatively amiable and friendly, even providing instructions on places to visit. Mournhold is a large city and easy to get lost in he said, and like any large city it had its places to visit...and places to avoid. Finding the robot arena wouldn't be easy but maybe information could be gathered while exploring. Mournhold is also known as Almalexia, and is the seat of the Goddess of the same name. A visit to her temple could be worthwhile! On the other hand it's been awhile since flexing those muscles, and the sewers are renown for being vast and full of treasure the deeper you go. The city guard may pay for clearing them out too!
