Rural Peasant, someone who lives out in the country, farming in the fields or working in the forests. These poor illiterate saps have to contend with monsters and bandits, often trying to buy them off in an effort to save their livelihoods from certain doom. Other times, problems require creative solutions, and keeping up their farm is more important than modesty.
Urban Peasant, this sod lives in the city, or a particularly large town, focusing on a craft or working for the city, rather than just slaving away in the country. Of course, with the city comes crime, and pickpockets and muggers are common where alleyways are plentiful ...
International Peasant, these guys are human peasants that live their lives outside of the human demesne, maybe an elf tree city, a dwarven hold, and Orc camp, or some other non-human locale. Or, an other-worlder, someone from another world finding themselves in a not-so-standard fantasy world, and trying to have a grand adventure, not dying in the process. Either way, cultural misunderstandings are going to happen.
