Jason- no, Sonja now. The difference was crucial. Sonja walked down the stairs with a plan revolving in her head. She'd be a complete nuisance, an unpleasant date companion, utterly ruin Larry's crush. Once he saw how bossy and snide Sonja was, he'd lose interest and leave Jason free from anymore calls. It was perfect.

Sonja was first at the door when it rang again, ready to spoil Larry's dreams of romance. She swung it open wide, ready to unleash pure derision.

Instead her mouth dropped open. She couldn't find a single complaint. Larry had worn a nice suit, combed his hair appropriately... he even brought flowers.

"There's a beauty!" Larry joked warmly. "Uh, these are for you. It's great to finally meet!"

She recovered quickly, tossing the flowers over her shoulder.. "Dead flowers? Save your money next time."

She wished she could take it back immediately. He looked devastated. Did he really desert that treatment...

Yet a split second later, he grinned brightly. "That's the greatest thing I ever heard!"

What. "Huh?"

"It's really nice of you to worry about how I'm spending money, I mean. And it's really good advice!"

Wow. What a putz. It was almost endearing.

She shook her head. She had to dissuade him from wanting to date her. That was the whole point. She wouldn't let him bug her anymore.
