Chapter #9

The Eevee Twins... Safe and Learning of Prophecy

    by: Ctbro Author IconMail Icon
"Well, we do know some of it already." Damon's twin said shyly.

"Before those red-eyed pokemon attacked, we overheard you and father talking about us, about some prophecy." Damon explained a little further, now regretting on eavesdropping.

Their mother looked at them back and forth, sighing. "Well, you know that you should not be listening in on others' conversations, but I guess I should explain the rest of the story." She laid down in the dirt, getting as comfortable as possible. Damon and his twin followed suit, sitting in front of her. Damon noticed that she suddenly looked much older, as if the prophecy was some great burden.

Damon and his brother listened intently as their mother explained. "Little ones, you are both very special. Twins are very rare, almost unheard of with most pokemon families. Historically, twins that are born bring about great change, good and bad, to the world. Within the Eevee family specifically..." Their mother hesitated for a moment. "Only one other set of twins were born."

"There is another pair of twins, like us?" Damon asked aloud.

"They died, a long time ago." She replied gravely. "They sacrificed themselves to save our world from a powerful darkness. Just before their death, they recited a prophecy. Unfortunately, most of the lines have been... lost over the years. No one today can even agree on what all of the lines are, or even how many there are."

Damon imagined a terrible game of telephone. Every generation, starting with the first who heard it, would recite the prophecy as clearly as possible to the next generation. But over time, the meaning and words would change, or become lost. "But then... how do you know we are the twins in that prophecy."

Their mother smiled, "Well for one, you were born twins; the only twins since the first. And..."

The other Damon interrupted, "We were born of night and pixie light. You and father."

Their mother giggle softly, "Yes, that is true." Growing more serious, she continued, "But, I was going to say that the red-eyed pokemon have returned, and they have named you as a threat. They would only do that if you were the twins of prophecy."

Damon and his twin looked at each other, frowning. He wondered in his head, 'What had the unknown thrown them into?' A look from his brother indicated that he was thinking the same thing. Damon looked outside the cave opening, the sun had set and night was upon them. "Wait, what about Dad!" Damon exclaimed, feeling terrible that he just remembered their father. He had stayed back to distract the red-eyed pokemon.

"Your father will be alright; he is no Slakoth when it comes to combat." Their mother smiled reassuringly. "Though, it make take him some time to find us. We surveyed several different caves, looking for back-up homes incase anything should ever happen. He will find this one."

Damon felt comforted by his mother words, hopeful to see their father soon. Their mother then said, "Now, it is time to rest little ones. We will begin your training tomorrow."

Surprisingly, Damon fell asleep right away, along side his brother. As they dreamed, their father did find the hideaway, and the very next morning began the twins' training to become the heroes dictated in the prophecy.

You have the following choices:

1. Months past, and the twins were ready to seek evolution...

*Noteb*
2. During their first day of training...

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
