Chapter #4
EG: Flutterbat's beginnings
by: Unknown
The bright moon was reflected off the small pond, giving an extra dose of calm to Fluttershy as she walked down the path. She held her night bag in a somewhat tight fashion on her left shoulder while she felt her phone in her left hand. The girls had arranged for a sleepover and Applejack was the winner of Pinkie's straw picking. This decision would have been okay with Fluttershy if it wasn't for the fact that her work at the shelter was busier than usual today. It was already nighttime by the time someone took her shift and only got darker when she reached her house. For the sake of her friends though, Fluttershy knew she had to brave the dark of night. It really didn't seem like much of a problem, the orchard wasn't too far off and what animals were found along the path were usually friendly. So there she was, walking along the grass in the darkness. The path was right in front of her and lights from the house could already be seen.
*squeak*
"Hmmm..?" Fluttershy stopped at the sound.
*squeak squeak..*
"Oh my....who's there?" Fluttershy looked around for the source of the pained squeaking, her head turning about until she saw a slightly rustling bush. She creeped over to the bush and saw a sight quite painful to her. A small bat laid in the grass with a seemingly sprained foot. "Oh my goodness, come here you poor thing." Fluttershy carefully picked up the wounded mammal and cradled it as lightly as possible in her arms. "Don't worry, everything's gonna be fine. I'm always prepared for this." Reaching into her bag, Fluttershy pulled out two popsicle sticks, presterilized and ready for splint usage. However, it seemed her little 'friend' wasn't quite so innocent. For the moment she turned her back, the faking bat sprung towards the girl's neck and bit deep. Fluttershy felt a little light headed as the creature worked it's feeding before flying off into the night. The bite would have meant little if the Equestrian magic in the girl began having an odd reaction to the bite. She began to feel dizzy, the world spun as a strange pain entered her mouth. "No....what......ughhh....hisss...."
