This choice: Two royal human guards won the bid. They are secretly here to save you  •  Go Back...
Chapter #9

Unexpected Saviors and a Resolution

    by: Unknown
The whole world seemed to stand still when two guards dressed in royal attire spoke up.

"We'll take him for 35,000 gold."

"Sold to the King's men!"

You are then shoved towards the King's men. The King's men were dressed in silver and red clothing and were wearing steel helmets.

"Let me go!"

The royal guard with a dark tan grabs you by the hand.

"This is for your own good."

Once outside and out of sight from any passerby the guards place you in an empty barrel.

"Listen lad, we're here on orders from our princess. A week or so ago she stopped by here and was disgusted by the corruption here. That very guild that we saved you from is the pinnacle of this town's corruption. We had to stop our princess from burning the Guild down. After watching all this go down within a week we'll have to shut that Adventurer's Guild Down permanently."

"So you're not going to torture me?"

"That's right boy. But before we can go anywhere we need to get you some clothes. We can't let you go walking around naked." The other royal guard replied.

"Clothes? What are clothes?"

"Let me guess you never been to the surface before."

"Yeah, one of the royal guards from Pearl Clam told me that they spotted what your race calls a ship. I was checking up on a friend of mine. Her name is Erin. I saw her washed ashore when we docked an hour ago."

"I see. So that explains why we saw a naked girl walking around town. First let's get you some threads then we'll help you look. Naphtali, stay here with the merman. I'll go buy some clothes for him." The man with the dark tan said.

"Will do Gareth."

Gareth then walks away in search of a vendor.

"What's your name kid?" Naphtali asked.

"My friends call me Percy. It's more of a nickname rather than my full name."

"I see. Judging by what you told us earlier you're a noble."

"I'm actually a prince. My mother is queen of the merpeople."

"Then we have to return you to the sea asap. With all this going on we may have a war on our hands if we don't do anything to free your kin."

A sense of dread covers your face. Your mother isn't know for her patience. In fact she may be preparing the royal army for war as you sit here.

"I'm not going anywhere until we save my friend and rescue my fellow merpeople."

"Are you sure Percy?"

"I'm certain. I will not swim home free until we do this."

"Then we will help."

"Thanks Naphtali."

Thirty minutes later Gareth returns with some clothes.

"Put these on. They should be roughly your size."

Gareth tosses the clothes into the barrel that you were sitting in. Then both guards turn around while you get dressed. It didn't take long to get changed. The clothes you were given were a brown, but now you didn't have to worry about your groin being exposed.

"Now let's look for your friend."

You and your saviors look all over town for Erin. Unfortunately you couldn't find her and...
