Amanda’s mind turned to home and comfort. Food in a dog dish filling her belly. Candy could wait for another night. She desired familiarity to comfort her. Not a hussy, her lips curled. Kyle could commiserate and set all to right. She trotted following familiar scents. Her nose snuffled along till Kyle’s scent and his alone became her focus. The rest of the world faded into the back round as she trotted through shrubbery. She ignored the scratches and scraps from prickly bushes. Through force of will she pushed back the desire to run across the street. She awaited the streetlight to change.
A good Samaritan pulled over trying to entice her into his car. The older gentleman looked trustworthy. The backseat inviting but her human mind drove her to run off. Combining her natural instincts with her human knowledge to return too the path home. Following street signs and odors that spoke of her familiar neighborhood. A honking horn startled her. She flipped about to face it. Hair standing up with nervous attention. “Amanda is that you?” Kyle asked recognizing the collar on his transformed wife. Amanda bounded to Kyle tail in full wag.
Kyle knelt accepting slobbering affection from Amanda, “Let’s get you home girl. Stop wiggling it makes it hard to carry you.” Amanda settled down but her emotional state being a dog left her unreserved. She felt incapable of deceit. Vindication at knowing her right choice with Kyle laying out a bowl for her once home. When she felt properly and comfortable Kyle questioned her, “Do you know where the medallion is?”
Amanda shook her head no.
“Do you think you can find it?” Kyle asked.
Amanda didn’t know how to shrug as a dog so she laid on the floor putting her paws over her muzzle. Kyle pet her said, “We’ll find it. It shouldn’t take too long. You can retrace your steps with that nose yours. But you need a bath before you go to bed.” Kyle led her to the bathroom.
Instinctive fear of what came next causing her to pull away. Kyle gripped her collar tightly dragged her across the tile floor. Amanda’s claws scraping against it. Kyle hefted her into the tub turning on the faucet checking the temperature before switching to the shower spray. A blast of cold water hit Amanda sending her to the other end of the tub. Kyle carefully aimed the nozzle to wet her down. “Amanda, you would kill me if I allowed you this dirty on the bed.” Kyle said defending his actions. Mud picked up from her journey washing down the drain in a brown stream.
Kyle rubbed in shampoo rinsing it off carefully. Amanda leaped from the tub after Kyle turned it off. Shaking a spray of water about as a bit of revenge. Her indignity continued as Kyle draped a towel over her and attempted to rub her dry. Once set loose she ran about the house dragging her body across furniture. Either to remove the remaining dampness or spread her scent. She didn’t know which. After a brief stint outdoors to take care of business she ran and jumped on their bed.
“I am going to flip you. I don’t want your pointy end poking me at night.” Kyle said proceeding to rotate Amanda’s body over so she no longer faced him laying on the bed. Amanda using her paws shoving herself next to him. Kyle’s arm put atop her and they fell asleep together.
In the morning Kyle ran out to take care of an errand leaving Amanda behind. She felt irritated at them not searching immediately for the medallion. Till her nose caught the enchanting aroma of bacon from the garbage. Nosing open the lid of the garbage. It smelled amazing as she pushed her head deeper in the trash. As her tongue began to leave her mouth, “Amanda no!”
Exiting and scurrying away with tail between her legs. “Amanda we need to get you back. You keep acting without thinking. Come here.” Amanda approached slowly and Kyle slid a nylon loop over her muzzle and clicked in a strap over the back of her neck. “It is a gentle lead so you can’t yank yourself free from me.” Attaching the leash he led her onto their normal path.
“Is that a new dog? Sooo cute.” ‘Candy’ in a tight running outfit exposing copious amounts of flesh approached. Her large breasts swaying from her run. Rubbing at Amanda’s ears causing her to groan in deep pleasure.
Kyle said, “No, watching a friend’s dog. Her name is Artemis. She lives up to it, a real hunter this one.” Patting Amanda’s side.
“I bet she does. I have been thinking of getting a hound dog. They make such great guard dogs with their sharp senses and deep barks. A woman gets nervous living alone. Is Amanda not with you?”
Kyle rubbed the back of his neck, “She’ll be back this afternoon I expect.” Hoping he didn’t over commit and they found the medallion.
“You mind if I join you? It gets lonely running by yourself.” Candy asked.
“I don’t know. I am going off roading. I lost a medallion and I am going to look for it in the woods.”
“No worries. I enjoy the woods.” Candy said. Amanda huffed in frustration at this interloper.
“Okay.” Kyle said heading into the woods. “Artemis, find that medallion.” Smiling to Candy playing it off as a joke. She smiled back. Amanda yanked best she could with the gentle lead. Putting her nose to the ground trying to retrace her path. Soon her nose found her scent following the trail.
After a few minutes of this Candy interrupted, “Is this it?” Holding up the shapeshifting medallion.
“Yes, thank you for finding it.” Kyle said ecstatically.
