Chapter #4

The Flood(Gravemind)

Master chief is on installation 05 with the Arbiter, and they have entered the area with the gravemind. The gravemind extends its tentacles and grabs the two of them. Chief tries to communicate with the creature, but it makes no intention of listening. After many failed attempts of communication, the gravemind grows tired.
"If you don't stop talking, I'll make an example of your little friend here." It says, gesturing to the Arbiter.
"There's nothing you could possibly do to me that I can't handle." The Arbiter says.
"Really? Nothing? How about this?" The gravemind says, as it opens its mouth agape, revealing its fleshy innards, and tosses the Arbiter inside.
"Now, chief, is it? I will give you two options." It says after swallowing the Arbiter quickly.
Master chief, after watching his closet companion on the entire installation get swallowed so easily, listens to the gravemind's options.
"You can keep talking, and end up like him. Or you can shut up, and I eat you anyway." The gravemind says, awaiting a response.
"How about neither?" Master chief says as he reaches for his assault rifle.
He soon finds that it's not there, only to look over, and see his rifle resting on the tongue of the gravemind, who tilts its head back and swallows it whole.
"Now that your little toy is gone, I'd better stop playing with my food," he holds Master chief above his head "and eat." He says as he drops chief into his awaiting gullet.
