Marissa walked out into the rain, a flashlight her only friend-- the others having long since been murdered. She waved the flashlight around wildly, knowing at any moment, a hockey-mask-wearing-maniac could step out of the shadows, silently stalking after her as she flew to safety, away from the log cabin they'd come to for a summer holiday. There: her car, down at the end of the long yard. She got to the vehicle, her salvation, the keys fumbling in her shaky hand. Tortuously slowly, she started to unlock the door; but wait! Behind her, a figure becoming clearer in the shadows, pale moonlight reflecting off the blood-soaked axe raised above his head, the murderer! He raises his weapon into the air, as the stinging music grows louder and louder and louder, until Marissa finally sees him in the reflection off the cars window, when he brings the axe down and-
BOOM
"Jesus Christ!"
The TV went off, the room went dark, and the bowl of popcorn that had been sitting in Jason's lap was spilled onto the floor as he jumped in his seat. His heart was beating like a jack-hammer; it was only after a few moments of terror in the dark that he realized what the sound had been and what had happened to the lights.
"Damn fuse blew out..." It was a pretty common problem, really; his house was pretty old, and while his parents had meant to get some electricians to work on rewiring things for a while now, it was one of those problems that no one ever really got around to fixing. And so, with the slightest provocation, the fusebox blew. Meaning that, if he wanted to resume his activities for the night, he'd need to go outside, into the dark night, to fix it.
Unless Jason wanted to sit bored in the dark. After having just watched (most of) a movie about a killer who lurked in the dark.
Figuring that he'd rather be out in the dark for a few minutes rather than spending the rest of the night inside in the pitch blackness, Jason turned his phone back on (ignoring the additional text messages from his friends) and headed out into his backyard to open the fusebox.
As he opened it to take a look, however, a shiver went up his spine as he heard....
