This choice: Performing her duty as an agent of the Velvet room • Go Back...Chapter #4Performing her duty as an agent of the Velvet room by: faith “Hello Marie.” Margaret whispered.
Marie glanced around in bewilderment. “Wha...What’s going on??”
“Do not be alarmed, You are fast asleep in the real world.” Igor said, sitting in his usual place within the blue limo.
“Huh? When did I fall asleep? Why am I in the blue...WHERE ARE MY CLOTHES???” The guest of the Velvet Room screamed finding herself entirely naked.
“You were not wearing any clothing when you fell asleep.” Margaret explained.
“W-Why the heck wouldn’t I....” Marie began while covering herself.
“What do you remember prior to this?” Margaret asked.
“I...I had just come back from the Hollow Forest. Those...stupid idiots with their stupid moron leader...had saved me. I was trying to end my existence and they....those idiots wouldn’t take no for an answer. I...they just saved my life!” Marie said.
“Very good. What happened next?”
“There was a mad rush to get out of the collapsing dungeon. And then....we had one of those stupid ultra embarrassing moments where they all gushed about friendship and how I was important to them and....ugh! It was really sappy and I wanted to die! Except not because they were really nice and those jerks made feel like an idiot and and a bigger jerk for wanting to vanish with the fog in the first place! It was seriously the most stupid thing ever and I’m never gonna be able to talk to the idiots again without blushing like one of those fire truck things.....can I please have something to wear?? Telling this story is humiliating enough without-“
“No. I’m afraid for a number of reasons allowing you modesty. Is out of the question. Please continue.”
“Uh...okay. We...had a fight with snow? I pretty much destroyed them. Then...the bath! There was a outdoor bath and I was with the other girls and...those jerks! They were peeping on us! I let them have it and...and...there was this loud noise and...and now I’m sitting here naked answering stupid questions!” Marie shrieked, deeply confused and embarrassed.
“Indeed. I am glad to see you remember. So...do you remember how you “let them have it”?” Margaret asked while jotting down notes.
“Oh yeah! The idiots tried to peek over the fence, it collapsed, I had to look at their junk, and I hit them with a lightning bolt!” Marie said remembering the moment of her wrath with glee.
“Indeed. Did you hear the plea not to use electricity while they were standing in water?” Margaret asked.
“Oh yeah. They were begging for mercy and they were getting none!” Marie said.
“Indeed. So you did hear them. And you were aware of the properties of water mixed with electricity?” Margaret asked.
“Ha! Of course! Amplification! Tripled by vengeance!” Marie said.
“Mmmm. Did you know that the typical punishment for peeping in such a situation is a fine or a brief jail sentence?” Margaret asked.
“Serves them right for peeping on a goddess!” Marie said. “Or...maybe a goddess? I’m still not clear about the whole Saguri thing....like did i create them or...”
“So in summation you felt that a bolt of elemental energy the size of the building you were in was an appropriate response to your violated modesty, while being fully aware that such attacks are lethal to normal humans. Also that our guest and the friends you previously mentioned helped to save your life at no small peril to themselves were your main targets of said dangerous and possibly lethal attack? And the purpose of this attack was meant as retribution for your embarrassment at being seen undressed. Is that accurate, Marie.”
“I...I don’t like where this is going...what the hell is this about?” Marie asked.
“I simply wished to have a full account of the facts before I decide on an appropriate consequence for one guest of the Velvet Room placing another in extreme danger for reasons as petty as modesty. An attack coming on the heels of a very carefully and time consumingly arranged series of events on my part to place our guest in a position to ensure that your foolish and shortsighted decision to end your own life was prevented.” Margaret said with a calm voice tinted with an icy edge.
“Wwwait a second. I was just-“
“For your edification the lightning strike had the side effect of causing an avalanche that buried your bathhouse and would likely have killed all of you if not for a few deft actions on my part. Now you and your female companions are merely unconscious and scattered along the slope. None of you have suffered significant injury.” Margaret said.
“Seriously? I...wow. I had no idea!” Marie said.
“Indeed, A running theme when it comes to your actions and the consequences that will follow.” Margaret said.
“Excuse me you ice queen harpy bitch? Who the hell even asked you to interfere to begin with.?” Marie asked.
“Our guest. He seems possessed of this peculiar sense of mercy that your life is worth preserving. I believe he might even hold that opinion if you were to see him unclothed and he suddenly could call down lightning outside the Hollow Forest.” Margaret said.
“Listen you dumb yellowed eyed bitch I...I...okay look I may have been a little...impulsive okay? I just...ummm...oh who cares! It’s not like there’s anything you can do to me anyway!” Marie sputtered.
For the first time while inside the Velvet Room Marie found herself shivering in fright as Margaret gave a slow, predatory smile.
“Actually, a resident of this room is bound by contract to assist and aid the destiny of our guest. That includes temporary residents like yourself. Violation of your contact, such as endangering the life of a guest or those bound to his destiny for petty or frivolous reasons offers the assistant in charge considerable leeway in penalizing the offender. For example...a resident might have their ability to call upon magic in the real world revoked for a period of my choosing.”
“Your taking my magic? You CUNT!” Marie screamed.
“May I state for the record that this...insistence you have for spitting out insults and refusing to pay proper gratitude for the services others provide on your behalf has been...trying this past year? But it does make me curious- do you consider it wise to antagonize the arbiter of your fate in this way?” Margaret asked with a sinister gleam in her eyes.
“Margaret..l-look! I made a mistake! I’ll admit it! But come on! I know I can be a little...ummm...but your like the big cool senpai of this place! You can let that stuff slide, r-r-right?” Marie swallowed. “I-I-I do better! Please don’t hurt me!”
“Hurt you? No. You can rest easy. I have no interest in making you suffer physically. A lesson in impulse control and humility requires a different method...” Margaret said.
“Oh. O-kay. That’s...good?” Marie trailed off. “That’s good, right? W-why do I still feel terrified?”
“Your instincts for once are in top form.” Margaret said. “I had hoped to teach you respect in a subtler way, Marie. Feeding Yu that dreadful poetry of yours, for example. But clearly a less subtle lesson is in order.”
“I knew it! I knew it! Do you even know how humiliating it was seeing him read all of my thoughts, you Goddamn CU-CU..,” Marie blanched. “Cunning, clever wise merciful big sister?”
“I’m sure it felt humiliating at the time, Marie. But all things are relative are they not?” Margaret asked.
“W-what..,what does that..,,”
Resident Marie of the Velvet Room, for violations of your contract you are ability to invoke magic in the real is henceforward revoked for a period yet to be determined. In addition, upon awakening you will find yourself and your female associates cold and naked on a mountain range. A search of the area will yield the following items of clothing- Your velvet blue cap, your red choker collar, your black and white stocking, and your black shoes. In addition your companions will locate several pairs of high heel shoe colored green, red, gold and dark blue in association with their preferred color scheme. Finally, simply because I as the arbiter of fate deem it a cool and stylish accessory I would frankly miss too much should I deprive her of it, Naoto Shirogane will find her blue detectives cap miraculously untouched among the debris of the avalanche. With the exception of the above items, Fate itself shall henceforth deny you right to wear any other form of clothing at all, and will should any of you seek to defy this edict and wear any other garment you subsequently find Fate will conspire to strip said garment from you in a timely fashion in a manner you will find to be especially humiliating. While under this penalty Fate will provide some protections to your persons- no danger to your life of act of violence will occur in your vicinity and the cold will be amusingly uncomfortable rather than deadly (Fate will preserve your existence on the mountain if you huddle together for warmth, while also conspiring to make the close proximity embarrassing and arousing for all involved). Such shall be your existence until such time as I deem your lesson learned. If any of your companions ask why they are being punished you may reference a previous bathhouse incident in which their own behavior also appalling on a lesser scale. They know what they did. I mean, really, smashing his head with buckets and no apology when realizing your mistake? Consider this an overdue reprisal!”
Marie gaped. “Margaret! You can’t! This is way too much! Don’t you dare-“
Marie vanished with the snap of Margaret’s fingers. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
