"Wait, you, work out with me?" Chie asked incredulously. "I never thought I'd see the day! But why now, all of a sudden?"
"It's been on my mind for a while now," said Yukiko, picking up her fan from her pack. "But after what happened recently... Remember when we last went in the TV and got ambushed by all those shadows?"
"Ugh... yeah," Chie groaned. "Not our best moment."
"At least you were able to fight back. I got knocked down in just one strike. If you all weren't able to pull through-"
"Hey, don't worry about that," Chie interjected. "Sometimes bad stuff like that happens. What matters is that we're still alive and kicking."
"I know, but I was just so... weak," Yukiko said, looking away. "You can't deny that."
"Um, you're not wrong, but," Chie hesitated. "Come on, you've got your own kind of power. Those Agi skills of yours would knock me senseless as well."
"It doesn't matter how strong my magic skills are if I get destroyed before I can use them!" Yukiko suddenly shouted. Realizing her outburst, she quickly composed herself and added, "So please, Chie. Help me get stronger."
"Yukiko," Chie said, looking her friend in the face. "Okay. You got it, one Satonaka Strength course coming right up!"
"Oh, thank you!" Yukiko replied, smiling.
"So what do you want to work on first?" Chie asked, starting to get pumped. "Endurance? Arm strength? Leg strength?"
"Actually, I was thinking more like a sparring match," Yukiko stated simply.
"Huh?"
"You know, a one-on-one friendly duel, just like in your favorite kung-fu movies?"
"I know that! But, sparring, right off the bat?"
"I've heard it's the fastest way to get stronger, Chie. So please? You said you'd help."
"I know, I know. Fine," Chie sighed. "But let's warm up with some stretches first."
And so, after some quick stretches, the two friends took their positions in front of each other. Yukiko had her fan at the ready, while Chie was wearing her normal clothes, fighting boots not equipped. But Yukiko knew that even with just her normal shoes, Chie was still a force to be reckoned with.
"Okay, Yukiko," Chie said, hints of trepidation in her voice. "Come at me."
Yukiko immediately went in, swiping at Chie with her fan. Normally, Yukiko would throw her fan at Shadows to fight them, but it was her close game that needed work, so she chose to go into melee. And her need for improvement was apparent, as Chie easily slid around her strikes, strafing and circling around her. This was going nowhere.
"Okay, my turn!" Chie said, taking the offensive.
"Ah!" Yukiko gasped, scrambling to put her guard up. Luckily, she was able to bring her fan up in time to help deflect Chie's kicks as she was pushed further and further back. Each kick was more intense than the last, but Yukiko would not be broken so easily. Chie wound up for another kick, and Yukiko moved her fan to intercept-
But Chie didn't attack immediately, it was a feint!
Yukiko's guard was out of place, as Chie followed through and unleashed a powerful spin kick at Yukiko! Finding her legs, Yukiko attempted to get out of the way-
