As usual, Liz was one of the last ones to leave the workplace.
It was not all that surprising, it sort of came as part of the job of being evening supervisor. That and her mild case of OCD. On a usual day, she and Elizabeth stayed behind a little after the employees left to sort through the paperwork. As for today...
"Hm, what is this?"
She had found something that obviously didn't belong. Usually, on her way out, she couldn't help but straighten out the aisles she passed. This time, she found a shiny, black remote tucked between the cash register and a box of chocolate bars.
She gingerly yanked it out and turned it over in her hands. However, she paused as she saw a faded, white label at the top of the remote.
"Trait swapper." She read aloud. She frowned just as she finished saying it.
What sort of prank was this? There was no way such a device could exist... nay, who would even think up of such a thing? Besides, how could such a device even swap traits? She only saw two buttons on it, one big blue one that said "Alter reality" and another unlabeled red one.
No matter, she made a mental note to have words with the cashiers of that day, she remembered that both Becca and Jessica were working at that position at different times of the day. She was sure she could think of some non-conspicuous way to bring up the topic tomorrow.
For now, Liz pocketed the remote. Even if it was an obvious prank of sorts, she felt that she couldn't leave such a thing lying around.
