It was 6:45pm on a warm Friday evening in July, and the usual shift at Wilko was just beginning for the evening team. The delivery was quite large and so a couple of day team members, Leanne and Donna had agreed to come in and help get it worked. This was the first real test for the new manager Julie, who had Elizabeth and Liz supporting her for the night. They were all just thankful that the store had stopped trading at 5:30pm, so there were no customers to get in the staff's way. "Don't forget to tidy the warehouse up when you're finished on section Steven." Liz said, as she saw Steven returning from the toilets.
"Gotcha!" Steven sighed, then he went back to finish his work on the Cleaner's aisle. Liz then finished what she was doing on the computer at the Help Desk before going to check up on everyone else.
Natalie and Nicola were on the Toiletries section as always.
Steven was on the Cleaners aisle.
Laura was working the Housewares department.
Andrea and Eddy were on the Kitchen section together.
Aaron was hefting about the heavy boxes on the Pet Food aisle, and Helen was helping him,
Tiffany was working diligently on the Seasonal department as she always did, and Charlotte was with her.
Mona was working the Home Adornments section on her own.
Tracey (Waggy) was quietly working on her own on the Decorating section.
Luke and Leanne were working the DIY section next door to Waggy's aisle.
Donna and Rebekah were stocking the shelves on Stationary.
And finally, Becca was working on the confectionary aisle.
With her entire team at work, and Julie and Elizabeth both upstairs sorting out paperwork in the office, Liz was satisfied. She was on her way back to the Help Desk at 6:57pm when all of a sudden she became disorientated... and her vision blurred, making her collapse to the floor. The same thing happened to everyone else, and they didn't start waking up until after 7:10pm. Liz was the first to open her eyes, and she just laid there, looking up at the ceiling, wondering what the hell had just happened. Something was definitely wrong, she could feel it. She slowly sat up and nothing could have prepared her for what she saw.
