From the left, salvation! A trampling wave of insects, desperate to escape doom themselves. Each of the ants is very large, something close in proportion to that puppet from 'Honey I Shrunk the Kids'. You watched it for a little research, and see a similar use for these great beasts.
There's no time to go for a long-term taming or anything like that - the creatures are already using their six limbs to trample along at a great speed. All you have to do is stand in the path of that wave of onrushing chitin and not flinch.
No dust is driven up by these rushing animals, and there is no thundering tread, no shaking of the ground; yet still, the alien forms of the ants growing as they get closer is as scary as any stampede of cattle. Not a single member of the group veers aside, moving with a singular purpose even as water droplets catch and kill stragglers.
The lead ant passes by you, its thick legs powering by. Another two avoid you before you get a chance to dive at one of the ants. Wrapping your limbs around its thorax, you struggle for moments as the landscape passes below at crazy speeds before throwing yourself rightside up and slumping across the broad back of your steed. All the hiking you've done today has tired you right out, and that was the last of your energy.
Let these girls go on their way, you'll just lie back and... rest your eyes... for a bit...
