Back down in the jungle, you turn from the monster cat and sprint as fast as you can. You're lucky Luna didn't try to eat you, but as adrenaline begins to fade, your mind begins to think things through.
You're 1/32" tall. Less than a millimetre. To a housecat, that's not a fulfilling meal. That's not even a bite-sized snack! The cat had no intention of eating you, was probably just puzzled by your scent. When she batted at the dandelion, she wasn't swiping at you, but playing with the flower.
It's not all about you.
As if to drive this point home, the gargantuan paw of the cat steps down in front of you, and you marvel once again at how something so massive can move so silently. Towering grass stalks crumple and collapse beneath her weight, but as all four legs bring the monster walking over and past you, her shadow throwing you into darkness, there is no sound beyond your hushed breathing.
In moments the behemoth has gone, her swishing tail the last, silent sign of her passing. So, good news is that while you may not be able to hear such a large predator approaching, they also don't want to eat you. No, the things that you need to worry about are smaller, birds and insects and such-like. You don't want to draw their attention to you.
So, you need to stay low, out of sight of any passing birds. Luna had actually helped you earlier; had she not been nearby, who knows what may have swooped down on you while you were on top of that flower! Earlier you had mused how you could use humans as protection from predation... Now it appears that larger mammals like cats, maybe dogs, can provide shelter as well.
Still, you never want to see that monster cat again. You've never been so terrified in all your life, and knowing that she doesn't want to hurt you doesn't override the primal fear evoked by those eyes, those teeth...
Shuddering, you try to align yourself. Unable to see beyond the grass, and unwilling to climb higher, you need to find another way to locate the lighthouse. If you concentrate, you can feel the shudders of Ashley's steps, and align yourself to head that way.
All too aware of the ability of humans to walk in circles even when they think they're walking straight, you focus on maintaining direction. It's going to be a great distance to a man of your size, and the woman will probably stand to return to her home long before you get close to the garden. It might even get dark!
At your size, you estimate you might be able to travel about forty feet in a day, if you marched without rest. Obviously, taking breaks, hiding when needed and picking up resources where you find them will slow you, but you should still be able to find your way to the middle of this back yard before night falls.
So long as you don't lose your way.
Worries, worries, worries, is this how you're going to live your life from now on? A negative mental attitude will kill you quicker than any obstacle in your quest for tiny survival! Think happy thoughts, you tell yourself!
The monotony of this jungle isn't helping. Brushing past the thousandth grass stalk just doesn't excite you like it used to!
Careful what you wish for. Your hours-long journey ends as the grass begins to thin out, and you stand at the edge of a clearing caused by...
