4 long months of survival later...

BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*

You're awakened from you're slumber by your annoyingly loud alarm. Slapping your hand, you rise up in bed. 5 AM, as usual. You jump into your routine swiftly. 50 pushups, 50 situps. Short break, panting, then half the pushups and situps, then half that. Sweating, you head for the bathroom for your shower. Well, it was supposed to be a shower, but in you're haste to construct your shelter, you had apparently forgotten how physics worked (although then how does electricity work you wonder). Water doesn't act the same when you're large ant sized. Since then you had filled the tub with a drop or so of fresh water. Reaching your hands through the resistant surface tension, you pull out a smaller droplet and effectively use it as a sponge, rubbing it on your much fitter body than you'd had 4 months ago. It had taken two weeks to figure that one out, pee yew you had smelled. After your improvised "shower" you made your way to your kitchenette, starting the stove, you move to the fridge and remove a piece of berry from the berry bush located across the glade, and a meat like substance with carapace on the bottom. You'd rather not get into the details of that dish.

As it cooked, you activated your miniaturized phone you had acquired the day before you began this journey, well miniaturized to the size of a large screen to you, and start some music, while starting the morning's standard downloads. Amazingly, again due to physics beyond your understanding but hey the shrink ray worked small or big, you had the weakest of signals, allowing slow, but relatively reliable downloads. You cared nothing for the day's politics, stocks, or entertainment news. No, you had focused purely on reports, scholarly articles, and other memorandum on the state and problems of the Earth's environment, the ultimate goal this project sought to one day solve. It had also been useful for more personal purposes. Sending your parents regular, if falsified, updates, record your daily journal and theories, and, occasionally...philosophical tests...to put it kindly. Let's just say you didn't start this journey without being absolutely fascinated with the massive shift in your relative status in the world, especially compared to other humans.

As you prepare your plate, you glance at the marker board to review today's agenda. Primary: Refill water supplies (5 drops), maintenance check on batteries, Secondary: Berry run or bug hunt, Tertiary: Local mapping and exploration.

You frown a bit. Basic survival was a must in this environment, but you always found your runs and exploration much more enjoyable. You figure that while extremely important, you aren't exactly super low on water and the stream was close, and you could easily check the batteries before your other goals. Any run or local exploration and documentation would have to be preceded by your mandatory Trevorina check. Oh, Trevorina, originally Trevor before discovering that female wolf spiders are much larger than their male counterparts, Trevorina had been a constant antagonist in this jungle. At about an inch and a half long, she dwarfs your 3/8th form. Sometimes you wouldn't see her for many days, other times she'd lurk near your shelter for as long as 48 hours. She had taken a particular interest in you since you'd taken one of her eyes. You hated her and feared her immensely, although you'd be lying if some little part of you didn't find the game of life or death exhilarating.

Still, the many things you had experienced and accomplished in your time here far outweighed a grudge with one spider. It was time to decide what to do with your day as you finish your meal, the thick gooey texture of the berry sliding down your throat, texture make everything taste so different down here!. You prepare to put on your suit. Hmmm, what to do....
