For a brief moment, the fire seemed to shrink, its light and warmth retreating from the room. Rei was momentarily concerned; had she done something wrong? Rei didn't have to ponder this for long, however, as the fire quickly returned to its normal size... and the continued to expand! Rei quickly jumped back as the fire ballooned past its normal range, licks of flame billowing out. Thankfully, the expansion ceased almost as quickly as it had started, and Rei watched in relief as the fire returned to its normal size once more and stayed there.
"That was weird..." Rei said to herself. "I... I know I didn't mess up the chant."
As Rei pondered what she might have done to provoke -that- particular response from the fire, she noticed that one of her arms felt uncomfortably warm. Looking down, Rei gasped in shock as she saw the sleeve of her gown was burning! Apparently she hadn't reacted quickly enough, and her robe's sleeve had caught one of the licks of flame!
Thinking quickly, Rei knew she had to take care of the fire on her robe before she got hurt. To that end, Rei's immediate decision was to-
