Seeing the twins dart past, their arms full of underwear. Exploring beneath the invisibility cloak, they'd not noticed him. Nor had he time to call out to them.
Sighing, he suspected his gift had only inspired the unfortunate actions. "Dobby." he breathed... moments later, the house-elf popped into existence. His unique house-elf magic allowing him certain abilities that were considered impossible to human wizards and witches.
Sinking down to his knees, he greeted Dobby. Offering him a welcoming hug, that seemed to overwhelm Dobby. But, he leaned into it, as Harry clearly desired.
"Can... I mean... Do... house-elves do the castle laundry?" Harry asked. Tipping his head in the direction the twins had fled. "I mean, I just suspect."
Dobby flushed, cheeks burning. "It's a great shame, but ..." he leaned in close, whispering, "Yes... we do."
"But... but that's clothes!" Harry spluttered. The fear etched on Dobby's face made him lower his voice, repeating it more quietly, "But, they're handling clothes."
An uncertain smile on Dobby's face, a brief nod confirmed his guess.
