This choice: Sapphire notices you! Huzzah!! • Go Back...Chapter #5Huzzah! by: Unknown Sapphire's ears twitch and then she looks down in surprise as she sees you. "Dad?!" she yells in surprise. Ms. Khaman actually stops writing at the board before she notices you and gasps as Sapphire holds you up. "Oh my. Sapphire, did your father get stuck in your backpack." Sapphire looks in embarrassment as the whole class has their eyes on her. She nods her head and you give a nervous smile. "I'm sorry, Taleela. I guess there are some disadvantages to being small." Taleela then walks forward and takes you from Sapphire. "I'm afraid that this classroom is a dangerous place for humans. I'll have to hold your father until the end of the day for his own protection." Sapphire nods her head. "Yes, Ms. Khaman."

At the end of the school day, Sapphire returns to Ms. Khaman's room and picks you up. "Thank you, Ms. Khaman." Says Sapphire. "Thanks, Taleela." You say. Ms. Khaman gives a sweet smile and then nods her head. "Oh," she says. "Don't worry, child. I was human once you know. Now, take care." As Sapphire walks out of the room, she carries you on your head. "I'm sorry to embarrass you, pumpkin," you say. "I didn't mean to cause a fuss." Sapphire lets out a sigh. "I'm just glad you're alright, Dad. If Ms. Tavi saw you, you'd be doomed." "Speaking of which, how did you do on the math test?" Sapphire gives a look of embarrassment. "A+." You give a laugh. "See, Sapphire. You were worried about nothing." Sapphire walks outside and sees Maggie waiting for you both.
As Sapphire gets into the car, Maggie takes you off of Sapphire's head and puts you on the dashboard. "There you are, you troublemaker. Thank goodness you're alright." "Give me some credit, Maggie," you say. "I may not be indestructible like you, but I'm as resourceful as ever." Maggie gives a smile and then kisses you as she drives off. She was in a good mood. "Oh," says Maggie. "Una and Pauline are in town and they've got quite a surprise for you both." Sapphire gives a blink. "Una and Pauline."
Maggie was referring to two of her cousins. Una was a Nemean lioness witch doctor who lived all the way in Direopolis. You knew her well because the last time she was in town, she gave Fiona a voodoo doll of her ex-husband as a birthday present. If only Fiona wasn't too nice to use it to her advantage. As for Pauline, she was a bright black-furred Nemean lioness who lived in Screamtown and ran a restaurant called Narnia that specialized in gourmet food. Last time you heard, she had a human boyfriend who came from a family of literal harpies. You didn't mind those two. They both lived in towns where it was illegal for monsters to eat humans. You just hope they remembered to wear clothing. After all, even though they had fur to hide it, it was still not a good thing for Sapphire to see.
"What do your cousins want?" Maggie gives a giggle. "They've invited us to see a magic show." Suddenly, Sapphire's jaw drops and she gives an excited look. "Magic show?" she asks with a huge smile on her face. Maggie nods her head. "The Amazing Great Lakeinski is in town and Una and Pauline bought tickets to the show tomorrow night." "That's amazing." You say. You loved a good magic show. The last time you saw one was when Sapphire turned 10 years old. This was going to be fun.
Maggie parks the car outside of the house and outside waiting for the both of you is none other than...   indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
