Britain/the United Kingdom was the first tank-building nation in the world, fielding tanks during World War One against the Central Powers, although Germany was also working towards their own tanks - they built them later in the war than the British, and could not afford to build as many as the British due to the lack of resources that occurred late in the war. Britain has a long and interesting history of building tanks that spans almost a hundred years and includes numerous successes, failures, and concepts that were never realised.
Britain is also one of the only two nations allowed to use Chobham armour in the construction of their tanks, the other being America. The armour is used in the Abrams, Challenger 1, and Challenger 2 tanks, all of which are among the most heavily armoured tanks currently in existence.
America's tank-building history is slightly shorter than Britain's, due to Britain inventing the tank. However, America has produced some of the most iconic tanks in history, such as the M4 Sherman and the the M1 Abrams, the latter of which can destroy its own tracks if the engine's speed governer is removed. American tanks tend not to have rifled guns, which means they can be somewhat less accurate than the tanks of other nations. However, well-trained soldiers can work around this minor setback.
So, do you want to start the lists of British or American tanks, or do you want tanks from another nation entirely?
