The sound of struggling could be heard as Sam opened the door to the home she shared with her two best friends, Clover and Alex, carrying a heavy box in her hands! Man, she thought, when I ordered these protein bars off the internet, I didn't think they would send this many! Well, I can always return them if they end up being bad, but if they're good, I can store the rest of them and never have to buy more for a while. Setting the box down on a table, Sam got a box cutter and got ready to cut open the top of the box when she decided to call out to her friends,
"Clover! Alex! Wanna see the package I just got?" Sam yelled. No reply came back to her. Huh, Sam thought, I guess they aren't home right now. Well, might as well open it up now then! Sam cut open the top of the box and pushed the folds of the box back to reveal the contents inside. Inside the box were dozens and dozens of protein bars, all of them inside their wrappers. Picking one up, Sam looked at the title of the bar. "Bulky Bar.. the name sounds familiar, but I can't quite remember where I saw it." she said.
A few weeks ago, Sam had decided that she wanted to start getting in better shape to help out her friends during their spy missions. While she was trained well in combat and the smartest of the three, she still wanted some way to make her better for her friends and herself. Looking back at how she was easily struck down if those bigger than her managed to land a hit of her, she decided that she wanted to work on her durability and strength so that she could add more power to her attacks against her enemies and could get back up a little easier if she was hit during a fight. Aside from spy missions, having a little more muscle would also help her with her figure and make her a bit more confident of herself. Really, it was a win-win all around. Since then, she had starting going to the gym more often and decided to order some protein bars from an odd site she found online which said were one of the best snacks for working out around. While initially skeptical of the site, she was reassured to see that the site had a return policy if the bars weren't too the buyer's liking and that the money would be refunded back to them. Now, Sam was standing in front of the living room table staring at the package of bars which had arrived this morning.
Suddenly remembering where she had seen the bar, she dropped it back into the box.
"Bulky Bars!?" Sam said, "These were the bars that body-builder Wernerstein had used on his competitors to make them gain lots of mass, get angry and explode, not to mention what those bars did to Alex! Why was that site selling these bars? Was it Wernerstein?"
Sam quickly collected herself "No, it couldn't have been. Last I checked, he was still in WHOOP prison, and we would have gotten notice if he escaped from Jerry. I guess the site was trying to get rid of it's merchandise, so that's why they sent me so many bars! No way I'm returning these, I gotta dispose of them!" Sam closed the box and was about to contact Jerry when an idea came to her. Sure, she thought, as they are now, these bars aren't safe for anybody, but if I reverse engineer these bars and modify them so that the exploding effect is removed and the user's personality won't be changed so they won't get angry and destructive, these things really can be the best workout snacks! Deciding that she would try to modify the bars, Sam went to work, grabbing the box of Bulky Bars and moving them into her room.
She was thankful that WHOOP had been kind enough to give her a small laboratory set, built in right into her room! The equipment WHOOP provided was quite high - tech, so Sam didn't think she would have any problem with what she had in mind. Opening the box again and taking out all the bars from it, Sam found a large enough container and ripped open each bar, dumping them all into the container and throwing out the wrappers. Once that was done, Sam managed to melt all the bars inside the container into a liquid state. From there, Sam was able to analyze the ingredients and molecular structure of the bar. Isolating the ingredients of the bar which made the user angry and made them explode from too much consumption, Sam recorded the formula of the bar so she would have the ability to make more if she needed to. By now, the moon had begun to rise and Sam was getting tired. Stifling a yawn, she said,
"Now all that's left to do is let the equipment take over and reform the liquid bars into a solid bar shape again, but before that, why don't I change the taste of the bars so it tastes good." With that, Sam added a couple of ingredients to make the bar taste like something she loved and recorded the final formula of the bar into her computer, unaware that she had add also done something to the bars that changed their effect ever so slightly. With her part done, Sam laid down on her bed and quickly fell asleep, while the equipment was busy remoulding the liquid bars and turning them solid, a process which would be finished by the time Sam woke up the next day. However, what had Sam unknowingly done to the bars?
