Things Fall Apart

The cheerleaders were in the locker room of the gym where the competition was held, putting their uniforms on. They still felt quite nauseous, but they cared so much about it that they had to perform. Julie approached them, preparing to give them a pep talk. "Alright girls, I know that we're all feeling under the weather, but if you all stick to the choreography we can win this. Ready?" she asked. The girls nodded in agreement and headed out.

Chelsea got in her place, and watched the lights dim low and the music start to play. She glanced over at Julie, who was standing near a trashcan, in case she got sick. Chelsea took a deep breath, and the cheerleaders began their routine. It went well to begin, as they all were able to hit their moves in perfect time. For their big finale, they had to form a pyramid, with Becky on top and Chelsea, Michelle, and Zoe on the bottom.

They held their position for a moment, until Chelsea began to feel very sick. She put her hand over her mouth and ran out of the pyramid, causing it to collapse. The girls weren't hurt, luckily, but Chelsea hurled into the trashcan where Julie was standing, causing the crowd to gasp. "Damn it, Chelsea. Are you alright?" Julie asked, rubbing Chelsea's back.

Suddenly, a voice rang over the intercom. "Due to that unfortunate event, Jackson High has been disqualified." it said. The girls sighed in disappointment. "Great job, Chelsea. Just great. You ruined it all for us." Becky sneered. "Oh, back off, Becky. I was feeling pretty sick too. If it wasn't her it would've probably been me." said Michelle, supporting her friend.

"It doesn't matter. It happened to Chelsea, so she gets the blame." Becky responded. "Becky, you need to calm down. You weren't on top form, either, and you weren't even sick. So I don't know what your excuse is. Anyways, let's go back to Jackson High. We're going to stop at Subway, so get your money ready." Julie said, as she headed towards the school bus.

The ride home was mostly silent. "Alright, girls. We'll be at Subway in five minutes." Julie said. They saw a McDonalds in the distance, and their bellies collectively groaned. "Maybe we could stop at McDonalds instead?" Mary asked. "Good idea." Julie said, as they pulled into its parking lot.

All of the girls got burgers and fries, except Becky. They grabbed a table and began to chow down. "You might wanna watch what you eat, Chelsea, or you might not be able to fit into that Homecoming dress." she said, giving Chelsea a sinister grin. "Well, at least I'm actually going to Homecoming with someone, unlike you." Chelsea fired back, causing the cheerleaders to erupt in a chorus of"OOOHH". Becky sat in silence, scowling.

They finished their meals, and shortly arrived back at school. "You all know the deal. Practice tomorrow and Thursday, football game on Friday. Hopefully we'll all feel better by tomorrow." Julie said, and the girls left.

Chelsea walked in her house, and saw her father sitting on the couch. Her mother had died years earlier, and her dad had been scraping by ever since. "How'd it go?" he asked. "Not good. I got sick, and we got disqualified." Chelsea said. "Oh, I'm sorry about that, baby. Just get some rest and we'll talk more tomorrow." he said.

"Ok. Good night, Dad." she said, heading upstairs to her room. "Good night, sweetie." he responded.

Chelsea tried to sleep, but she just couldn't. Something felt "off", and she couldn't quite place what it was. She walked over to her bookshelf and pulled out an old photo album. She started at the back, and eventually stumbled upon pictures of her with her mother. She put a hand on one of the photos, as tear ran down her cheek.

Suddenly, the sound of something hitting her window interrupted Chelsea's moment of peace. She walked over and saw what the cause of the noise was. Zack was standing outside, with a rock in his hand. "Zack, what are you doing?" she asked. "Trying to get your attention. I want to see you." he said.

"You couldn't have just sent me a text?" she wondered. "Oh, yeah. I guess so. But this is more chivalrous, isn't it?" Zack asked. "Last time I checked, chivalry doesn't mean breaking your girlfriend's window with a rock. But at least you had good intentions." Chelsea noted.

Zack sneaked into the house and entered Chelsea's room. "Whatcha up to?" he asked, taking a seat next to her on her bed. "Just looking at some old photos." she said. There were pictures of Chelsea when she was a baby, with her mother holding her. There were even multiple pictures of her when she was pregnant with Chelsea. "You were a pretty cute baby." Zack stated. "Yeah, I was. Wasn't I?" she laughed.

"You and I would make some pretty kick ass babies." Zack said. "Yeah...maybe." Chelsea responded. "Do you wanna...get some practice in?" he asked. "What, have sex? I don't know...do you have protection?" she asked. "Of course." he replied, as Chelsea removed her clothing.
