Chapter #4

One reason micen are despised...

    by: ItsMe Author IconMail Icon
A loud crash woke you up.
Wasn't so much as a crash but a ding and a trickling noise. You got out of your bed, only to feel your feet were cold. "What?" You squeaked. As you left your shack you looked at the roof of the cabinet. Water was dripping. No... Someone unscrewed the wrong pipe for drinking water and done screwed up! There's a reason some pipes are painted with a blue stripe, and others are painted with red dots. And no, it's not to differentiate from warm or cold, but rather from 'drink' and 'don't touch'!
The water was bleeding through the tops and the sides of the floor above. Even leaking out of the cabinet. Damn! How are we supposed to glue that shut with water dripping through?
Then it occurred to you. Water is dripping out of the cabinet. You shook your head. Solace is going to be pissed!
It wasn't long before Ritler had to call off the whole thing. The damage was irreparable. The water could stop spouting, but never stop dripping. You gathered your things, upset that you will have to start all over, again! Within the end of the hour, the colony was abandoned.

Solace stared irritably at her cabinet. Weeks ago, she had cleaned up a puddle of water on her counter. And a puddle inside the cabinet. She knew a pipe was leaking, but she sent in Gertrude to check it out. There wasn't anything wrong with the right amount of tape. However, she was too late. The water had already seeped in and by the time it had evaporated, it help rot away at the wood. Or that's what she thought until she sent Gertrude in there again and figured out that the tape had fallen off due to the water pressure.
The stupid micen tried to get into the wrong pipe for water.
She knew there was a colony in the cabinet, but it was an investment for her. She was going to wait until it was lively and flourishing before she got a box and helped herself to at least a few dozen of them.
But now that idea backfired. The wood was rotten and fungi have been growing in the walls. She crossed her arms. There is a reason she eats micen. A reason she makes sure that their settlements, or 'colonies' are either destroyed, or in a place where they can't do any damage.
There is at least hundreds of notes' worth of damage here! Her father is going to kill her. Or she's going to have to live with Risa all the time. But Risa doesn't know how to clean up after herself half the time.
She sighed, and she definitely couldn't bring Gertrude to that place either. This is worse than that time the micen ruined Risa's refrigerator. She left for a week for work and the micen thought it was a good idea to raid her fridge. Took dozens of them to open the door. But none of them closed the door either. The mice weren't the only ones feasting when Risa returned. Not a single colony seemed to have appeared since in her room.
She is going to find out who did this, and she is going to bite their head off.
