Chapter #4

Ally - loner artist.

Ally sighed. Coming back to your little cottage on the edge of the forest, your basket full of flowers you were enjoying the walk. Some flowers were just to pretty up the house, but some were ones you'd sought out for prints or to use as additives for your paints. Your home-made stuff was nowhere near as good as store bought, but you really disliked going into town to get stuff. You far preferred the peace and quiet out here.

Stepping into your house though you found the place just as cold as outside. What happened? Did the heating shut down again? Thankfully it was near the end of February, so the cold months were getting behind you... probably. Could still get bad days though. You went through looking at the system on the wall and the thermostat, then saw the door to her bedroom flap on it's own. You jumped back, startled, but it just flapped in the... breeze? Frowning you crept forwards and opened the door, and saw the bedroom window smashed completely, glass all over the floor and...

In the middle of the loveseat under the window was a round... thing. It was egg shaped, but a deep dark green with wrinkles all over it. Slowly you came in, and saw a piece of torn curtain under the thing. Yeah, it had come in through the window, smashed it, and landed there. It looked odd certainly, but not disgusting. Like a piece of modern art more than anything. Had someone thrown this in at your window? Who came out here anyway? Well, you could throw a tarp over the window for now, but this would need work!

You reached forwards and tapped lightly on the surface of the 'egg.' It sounded hollow, but with a wet echo. Like it was filled with liquid. Hmm, more like a real egg? But you'd never seen one like this.
