It was a little cloudy in Tokyo today, but still a fair day all the same. On this day, a boy from America and his father were visiting the headquarters of the company he worked for, Sony.
Brandon Thomas was a 14 year old of average height, if not perhaps a little small at 5' exactly. His dad, Samuel Thomas, worked as a sales representative over where they worked. In fact, he was one of the top sales people, and he had gotten invited for a business meeting over in Tokyo, Japan as a result. It was quite the accomplishment for Samuel, as he had been to Japan once in the past for some good work years ago.
However, this time was different, as Brandon had been brought along for the ride this time. Honestly, Brandon wondered why his dad would be so interested in bringing him, but given that Brandon was a huge fan of video games as many boys were his age, his dad promised that he'd get a tour of the place if he came along. The idea of getting a tour of the Playstation area sounded like a lot of fun to Brandon, as he loved many of the Playstation and Nintendo systems. He was surprised that his dad offered it, but he wasn't complaining in the end.
So, in any case, they finally arrived at the building early in the morning. A bit early for Brandon's taste but he hoped it would be worth it.
"Wow, it's huge!" he cried out.
"Indeed," Samuel smiled. "You'd be surprised at how many floors there are."
With that, Brandon followed his dad inside, passing by numerous other people going in and out of the place. Obviously from what Brandon could tell, most spoke purely in Japanese. Despite watching some anime and such, he barely knew a spec of fluent Japanese. Heck, maybe that would be a perk as well.
Once Brandon and his dad got inside, Samuel went straight to the receptionist at the front, who seemed to smile in recognition of him.
"Hello Mrs. Mizuki," he smiled formally. "Nice to see you again."
"Kon'nichiwa Samuel-san. Nice to see you again," she gave a witty smile. "How long since the last time?"
"About 6 months I believe," Samuel smiled before turning to Brandon. "Brandon, this is Kana Mizuki. She's been the receptionist here for a few years."
Obviously Brandon wouldn't have known that thanks to her nametag being in Japanese kanji, so it was nice to know.
"Hello," he smiled.
"Hello to you as well. So you're Brandon?" she asked just to confirm, to which he nodded. "Okay, Samuel you know which floor you need to go to correct?"
"Yes I do," he nodded.
"Okay so Brandon...yes, your tour guide should be here shortly," Kana said and pointed in the direction of a break room. "You could wait in there if you like. Help yourself to a drink if you feel like it."
"I will, thanks," Brandon smiled before turning to his dad. "Bye dad!"
"See you later Brandon," Samuel smiled back before saying good bye to Kana as well. With that, he turned and went straight for the elevator, making sure he had everything with him.
With that, Brandon went inside to the break room, where some secretaries were idly chatting away without noticing him. Boy, Brandon couldn't help but notice how nice they looked. Japanese women always seemed to have this allure to them. Good thing they didn't seem to notice him looking. In any case, he had to admit he was pretty thirsty, though the break room seemed to have little in the way of drinks. Nothing much other than coffee.
Granted, although he didn't like the smell, he was pretty thirsty. Perhaps it would be worth giving it a small try. While the others weren't looking, he walked over and got a small cup, filling it up just a bit. With that, he began to sip and drink it, not exactly enjoying the taste of it.
"Ew, gross...." he groaned, still finishing the small bit he drank.
If only he knew what that drink did to those who drank it.
