Chapter #5

Going Viral

    by: Unknown
"Well, a doctor at Feaaaaarfield General said he's found a new disease, and he waaaaaants a reporter there to see it." Ari says as you finish cleaning her ears. You feel like your going to vomit.

"Really?" You say. "What virus?"

Ari shurgs. "He didn't saaaaaay. He just waaaaants us down there soon. So we aaaaaare heading out now." She then smiles and plucks you out of her ears, heads to a nearby sink, and washes the earwax off of you.

"Uh, thanks." You say, surprised.

"Well, while I drive, you'll be cleaning the lint out of my belly button, and I don't want waaaaaaax there." Ari says, grinning before suffing you in her belly button. You sigh and start pulling at a big lint ball while Ari leaves the building.

------------------------
It was only an hour to Fearfield General Hospital, but for you, it felt like an eternity. After you were done pulling out her belly button lint, Ari made you floss her teeth. You swore you saw bones in there. By the time you finished, Ari had parked and gotten out.

"We're here, slaaaaave." She says. You sigh. Hopefully, she wouldn't work you like a dog while on the field.

The two of you entered the hospital lobby. There, you saw a male werewolf walk up to you. This must be the doctor who found the disease. He smiles.

"Welcome to Fearfield General. I'm Dr. Harry Kaufmann. You must be the reporters?" He said.

"Yup. I'm AAAAAAri Wooller." Ari says.

"I'm Tim-" You begin to say.

"So, Dr. Kaaaaaufmann," Ari interrupts. "You said you found a new diseaaaase?"

Dr. Kaufmann nods. "Follow me."

He leads you and Ari up to a room on the second floor. Once inside, he shows you a patient. The patient was an overweight female werecat. She looks upset, but otherwise healthy.

Ari was confused. "Whaaaaats wrong with her? She looks like aaaaaany other werecaaaaat."

"That's just it." Dr. Kaufmann replies. "Yesterday, she wasn't a werecat. She was human."

You and Ari both gasp. "What?"

"Yes." Dr. Kaufmann replies. "Poor Carla here was just a normal, skinny human. Then, out of the blue, she suddenly turned into a fat werecat. She came here and we ran some tests. We've managed to isolate some symptoms."

"And those are?" You ask.

Dr. Kaufmann grabs a clipboard and flips through it. "The major symptom seem to be a total species conversion, but other symptoms are high weight gain, temporary blindness in the right eye, moderate deafness, moderate coughing, mild sneezing, and mild vomiting."

"Wow, that sounds baaaaad." Ari says.

"We haven't been able to isolate a cure yet, but we have discovered something in the hour before you got here. She sneezed on two other patients, a ghost and a vampire, and they instantly turned into a rose monster and a human, respectivly. Not just that, but the ghost patient was male, but is now female. That means there is a slight chance of switching genders." Dr. Kaufmann explains.

Before anyone could say anything, Carla, the human-turned-werecat, suddenly turned and sneezed right on...
