Chapter #5

Mazee's Grief

    by: Unknown
While you've unfortunately become Pan-Li's property, Mazee is at the time fixing herself a cup of coffee when she hears cackling. Out of curiosity, she turns around and sees Tara reading the paper and then rubs her chin in surprise. "That's weird," she said. "Tara is in a surprisingly good mood today. As Mazee walks away, she sees Harley, the were boar delivery girl walking out with a stack of papers. "Hey, Harley." Says Mazee. However, Harley looks at Mazee in concern and lets out a squeal before turning her head. Mazee just looks in confusion.

"That's weird," she says. "It's not like Harley to be evasive." As Mazee walks down the hall, she sees Blake the weretigress laying on her desk rather glumly. "Blake?" asks Mazee. "Oh," mutters Blake rather inaudibly. "Hey Mazee." Mazee gave a suspicious look. "What's with the whole depression deal? Is this another scheme to steal Tim from me?" Blake just lifts her head and lets out a sigh. "No need to worry about that, Mazee," she said. "You don't have to worry about that ever again." Mazee was slightly worried but didn't think much about Blake's statement.

As she walked away however, she bumped into her best friend and your roommate, Willa the bunyip. "Oof. Oh, sorry there Willa." "S'al...S'alright Mazee." Says Willa weakly. Willa had a rather uneasy look. "Willa?" asked Mazee. Willa let out a sigh. "Mazee," she says. "I don't know how to tell you this... I really hate to tell you this but... but...." Mazee gave a worried look. "Willa?" she asks. "Where is Tim?" Willa just lowered her head as Mazee looked in horror. "Mazee," said Willa. "Tim is dead." Mazee gave a look of shock and dropped her coffee pot on the ground where it shattered right before she grabbed Willa.

She had both tears of sorrow and tears of rage in her eyes. "Who was it?! Aurelia?! Grace?! Tara!? Who did..." "I don't know!" yelled Willa. "Lexi said that she sent him on a mission with Pan Li but says that when Pan Li wasn't looking, he fell off her shoulder and somebody in Chinatown trampled him to death. I'm sorry." Mazee then ran crying into Lexi's office, knocking Kiki out of her seat in the process as she slammed open Lexi's door.

"Lexi!" yelled Mazee. Lexi looked down to face the half angry, half grief stricken wererat. "I see you've heard about Tim, I am dreadfully sorry. I know how hard it must be..." "You sent my Timmy out to his death!" Lexi just let out a scoff. "You know perfectly well Tim knew the risks being a human in a monster work environment. Even if he was a monster, it wouldn't make this line of work any less dangerous. What's done is done, Mazee. The past can't be changed. Tell you what, I'll give you as long as you want to take time off to work this..." "Shut up!" yelled Mazee.

With that your wererat girlfriend ran out of Lexi's office and then out of the building altogether before screaming out into the sky.
