a boy admitting to a friend that he had a crush...

Nadine could not believe what she was hearing. She could even filter out background noise too. There was a boy named Neville Long whispering to his friend Ronnie West that he had a crush on Nadine.

Ronnie was trying to encourage Neville to talk to Nadine. But Neville feared that he would appear too eager. And he feared rejection, even worse, Neville feared that Nadine would dislike him. That was what Neville told Ron. But they had to go to separate classes and planned to meet after school at the local Taco Bell.

Nadine was stunned that Neville would feel that way. Neville have always been nice and respectful to people. And he was smart too.He even carried a sack of groceries for Nadine's grandmother twice when she was in town. Soon she realized that the late bell was going to sound soon. So she headed on to class. Nadine was trying to think of something to say to Neville.

There was an empty seat next to Nadine. By chance, the teacher assigned that seat to Neville. When Neville saw Nadine, he was nervous but managed to sit down without looking at Nadine.

Quickly, Nadine said something to Neville that made him smile. but just barely..
