Minako stuck an arm out of the shower, her hand groping along the tiled wall towards the towel bar. Once Minako's arm was extended as far as it could go and she still felt nothing but smooth tile, she curiously peeked her head out of the shower, assuming the towel must have slipped off the bar while she was bathing. Looking at the floor, Minako didn't see the towel she expected... in fact, there was no sign of her towel anywhere!
"What the...?" Minako gasped. "Where did my towel go?"
Could somebody have taken it while she was showering? Lost as she was in the luxurious feeling of the shower, it was possible, she supposed. Still, what could anybody seek to gain from doing something like this? Right before a mission to Tartarus really wasn't the time for a juvenile prank. Reluctantly, Minako tip-toed out of the shower and across the bathroom floor to the door. Unlocking the door, Minako peeked her head out carefully, making sure not to open the door any further than absolutely necessary. Hopefully somebody would be nearby and able to help.
"Hello? I have a bit of a problem over here..." Minako called out, her voice torn between wanting to avoid drawing attention to herself, but also hoping to get somebody's attention.
"Oh, hey Minako-chan!" came Yukari's cheerful voice, followed quickly by the speaker in question popping into view around the door. "What's up?"
"I, uh... did you see anybody sneak into the bathroom after me?" Minako asked, though she had a sneaking suspicion she knew what happened.
"Sneak in?" Yukari repeated, sniffling. "I mean, what reason would anyone have to do that? Unless they wanted to steal your towel and hold you hostage or something..."
"Yukari..." Minako growled. "This isn't funny! Come on and give me something to cover up with!"
"Hey, don't get mad at me because you couldn't keep an eye on your things!" Yukari countered. "It almost makes me hesitant to help you out. Now, I could be persuaded to loan you one of my towels."
"And what do I need to do to persuade you?" Minako asked.
"Just call off our Tartarus mission. Let me get some actual sleep any maybe get over this cold!" Yukari snapped. "We can't all be perfectly healthy all the time like some people!"
Was Yukari's request really so outrageous? There were plenty of other days the team could climb the tower, and still a few weeks before the next full moon. Still, if Minako let herself be blackmailed like this, it could set a nasty precedent. This was an important decision for the SEES leader and she knew it. She had to make her decision carefully...  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
