Some days later, the Gaang was flying away from the well-to-do-town of Gaoling, an earthbending teacher for the Avatar in tow.
And the earthbender in question was actually looking a little pale and peaky as she tightly clung to the waist of a certain Water Tribe warrior. It was dark out, the sun having set hours ago, but this was not bothered Toph Bei Fong. Being blind meant that darkness wasn't really anything scary for her.
Rather, the reason she clung to Sokka's waist, nuzzling her face into his shirt, was the throbbing headache which currently afflicted her, and the fact that they were far, far from solid ground. She was truly blind, up here, and furthermore her head still hurt where that meathead's dang "boomerang" had smacked her noggin when he'd tried to help her in the fight Xin Fu.
Not that she'd needed any help. No, if anything, that idiot's interference had nearly caused her to lose. Her dad had not taken that well, and he'd outright FORBIDDEN Toph from traveling with the Avatar. Not that this had stopped her from running off with them as soon as her parents' backs were turned.
Still, though, Toph's head was still a bit sore, and it seemed like the only thing which could dispel the ache was physical contact with Sokka. If the Blind Bandit were in a clearer state of mind, she might have wondered at this. But as it was, she was just feeling drained from a very long day, and dizzy with vertigo as they flew through the air on the back of some giant fluffy snot-monster.
So she snuggled up to Sokka, uncaring to the fact that this kind of physical intimacy was highly uncharacteristic for her. It just felt nice nuzzling her face into his lap and breathing in his heady, faintly salty scent.
She smiled, not noticing, or else not caring about, the thing that brushed against her face through fabric of the teen's trousers as she buried her head deeper into the teen's lap.
Toph did not know, either, that Katara was jealously glaring at her. The waterbender was not happy that this childish little floozy got to cuddle up so with her brother when she herself had been pushed away every time she had tried to get close with him. She longed for her brother's touch, and she grew frustrated with the ache which throbbed in her belly at the lack of intimacy between her and Sokka.
Tonight, when they landed and made camp, she would make her move. Katara knew well that her brother was a heavy sleeper. Very few things short of outright life-threatening situations could get him to wake up before he was finished sleeping, and he would probably never even notice. Not, at least, until it was far too late.
When Sokka went to sleep, Katara would join herself to him.
Whether he wanted it or not.
Was she able to execute her plan, once they landed, or was there a complication of some sort?
