Dad nodded. "Tex had indeed grabbed the proper book but he needed to be taught to be more tactful in his approach so I switched books on him."
"That's not funny, daddy!" Serious, you hissed. "Tex could be stuck as Erica for life!"
"He could be stuck for life if it were a true transformation." Grinning, dad replied. "Erica is suffering from a transgender event. Once she calms down and realized it, she can change herself back with little effort and with no help from his precious book."
You paused, taking in what dad said then smiled slightly. "You're trying to teach her to think on her feet."
Dad chuckled. "This is just the first of many tests, my dear." Smiling, he said. "Understand, though, I can not play favorites."
Your eyes widened. "You'll be testing me as well?"
"Chapter four of your book, my dear." Serious, dad said. "It's all there. I suggest you read that magic book more carefully in the future."
With that, he walked away. You were not sure what to do at this point. You could not tell Erica that she was being tested as it would make your test that much worse later on. Also, you took dad's statement about the magic book as a warning.
