"So," Vix said, taking a lazy bite out of one of the large, starchy tubers she'd skewered and baked over the campfire, "how's a human girl end up turned into a boar, anyway?"
Evelyn sniffed. "These lands are owned by a wizard--"
"Magic, got it."
"Wait! There's more of the story than that! You see, the wizard who owns these lands takes apprentices, and I...I was one of them. I was to learn magic. But I didn't get very far. The wizard had a fondness for cookies, you see, and he kept them in a cookie jar, enchanted to stay forever as soft and fresh as the second they came out of the oven. Oh, the smell! It was like ever heavenly thing all rolled into only, butter and chocolate and fresh baked bread!"
She sniffed. Vix shifted positions a bit and adjusted her leather breeches, which had grown tight around a middle stuffed with tubers and berries, rabbits and squirrels, apples and mushrooms, and everything else one can find in a forest.
"So... so one day when the wizard was gone, I stole one! It truly was the most delicious, more scrumptious thing I've ever tasted, but it came at a terrible price!" The great sow's voice was sad. "For the cookies were cursed so that any but the wizard who ate them would be so perfectly satiated they could never eat another bite again!"
Vix's ears perked up. "Whoof. Never being hungry again sounds like a pretty good deal to me."
"Maybe to a beastgirl!" Evelyn wailed. "But I was trying to hide what I'd done. I had to cook dinner that night, even though I didn't want it, and no matter how hard I tried, when it was set before me I still too stuffed to eat a crumb! When he realized what had happened, my master was furious! He said, 'since you're a greedy pig, you may as well look the part'--and then he transformed me and set me loose!"
"Least he wasn't in the mood for a pork dinner," Vix observed.
"But I'm been out here for months and months!" Evelyn sobbed. "I haven't had a bath in half a year and I can't even brush properly!"
Vix pondered for a moment. "Huh. Well, guess I could be persuaded to help you find someone to break the spell..."
