This choice: Nate had transfered user control over to the AI woman • Go Back...Chapter #6Nate had transfered user control to the AI by: Cardio   "Transferred user status to AI? Well then transfer it back!" Nate said to the menu which replyed Unable to comply with non user. Please contact the user if you require assistance. "That's bullshit! I'M the user. I'm Nate Wallace! I hooked you up and you were listening to me just a minute ago!" After a second of computing the menu told Nate again, Unable to comply with non user. Please contact the user if you require assistance.
Getting really frustrated and a little worried Nate said, "Cancel the simulation and get me out of here now." And for the third time the menu popped up the same message floating before Nate's eyes. "This isn't good, not good at all. If I'm not the user, then how do I get out of here?" Nate asked himself.
"Perhaps I could help with that." A voice said beside him, Nate turned and saw the woman he'd saved just moments ago. "You see...Nate you called yourself? I think that when you demanded that the program 'fix this' it deemed the only way to save me was to make me real, and the only way to make me real was to grant me user status." The woman had a mix of fear and calmness rushing over her face, "I don't know what I'm saying but...but somehow I know it's true. And now I'm in control of the Imaginationland program, but what is Imaginationland?" Another menu with a lot of dialog appeared in from of the woman and out of Nate's view.
"I don't think you need to be reading all of that, you just need to transfer user power back to me and it will be for the best." Nate said nervously. He knew from work and from movies how dangerous it could be if an AI became fully self aware.
"No, I want to read this. I want to know." The woman said as her eyes widened the more she read, Nate tried a few more times to convince her to stop, but she just started to ignore him. Nate could do nothing besides just pace around and tug at his pink spandex as it began to ride up different in different body parts. Finally the screen disappeared and the woman turned to Nate and said, "So...I'm not real, nothing here is really real."
"No! You are totally real. I mean, you're standing here in front of me."
"I know that, but I mean really real. I've never breathed real air, I've never really felt or touched or tasted or anything...but now I can." She said as she pulled up another menu and said, "Computer, I would like to go into the user's body please."
"You can't do that...lady."
"You see? You thought of me and this world as such a nothing that you didn't even ask my name. It's Becky by the way. But I guess at least for a little while I need to get used to being called, what was it? Nate Wallace? So you're really a guy? I guess I can get used to that." Becky said continuing to navigate menus.
"But you can't leave! You can't just leave me here!" Nate pleaded.
Becky looked around the menu's and looked Nate in the eye, "I won't leave you here forever, I'll be back, I just want to see what it's like to be in the real world, but don't you worry your pretty little head..."  | Members who added to this interactive story also contributed to these: |
