Your name is Steve McCall, an actor on a struggling sitcom called "Roomies". It was about three male roommates and their lone female roommate and the various shenanigans that they get into while trying to co-exist. If it sounds bad, that's cause it was, hence why it was struggling. You were half way through the first season, when you were called into the producer's office, to find the producer, a network executive and your agent already sitting inside.
"What's going on?" you asked.
"Steve, we've got a new idea that we want to run with, and we want you to see it first, since it pertains to your character." the producer, Bernie, said.
"All right. What is it? Changing his job again?" you asked.
"Just read it," your agent, Jeff, said.
You sat down and started reading the script.
You stared at the script in front of you Bernie, Jeff and the executive sat on the other side of the table. You looked up at them in confusion.
"Is this real? Is this some sort of prank?" you asked.
"It's real." the network executive said. "What do you think?"
"I think it's horrible! I mean, my character is going to come out as transgender and then transition?" you asked. "I just don't get why it has to be me. Wouldn't it be better to get an actual transgender actress to play a new character?"
"Let me level with you, the budget's not good. We need to get the show back and this is the best way. It's only you cause it's cheap, and you're not one of the big names." Bernie said.
Your two male co-stars were established actors, Brock Winchester and Larry Fox and naturally they had much more clout than you did.
"Well, I won't do it." you said.
"You will do it. We have you under contract." the executive, whose name you later find out is Dennis, said.
"Jeff, come on." you pleaded.
"There's nothing I can do. You're stuck for the rest of the season, then we can re-negotiate or you can leave." Jeff said. "Sorry, bud."
