She looks at you like a dear caught in headlights. Clearly she wasn't expecting you to be awake. After looking around for a way out of this, she takes a step toward you.
"You were hurt pretty bad," she tentatively starts. "We didn't even think you'd be awake any time soon, the fact that you are is really good." she adds. You try to sit up but find that you cant move. "Don't try to move, I'll go get your doctor so he can explain everything to you."
She leaves you alone for an agonizing few minutes. The whole time you just sit there and wonder what happened. You remember being attacked by a shadow and then falling, but that is it. You try to move again while she is gone but find that you cant. In fact, you realize that not only are you unable to move, but you can't really feel much of anything either.
After what feels like an eternity, she rushes back in with a man who you assume to be your doctor. He confirms this by grimly saying, "I am doctor Wilkinson ... you've suffered a traumatic head and neck injury. You've been unconscious and comatose for a few days now. I'm glad to see that you are awake now." he pauses for a moment while he considers his words. You just stare at him wide eyed waiting anxiously for him to continue but afraid to ask him to do so. "I'm afraid that you've suffered sever trauma in your spine. It looks like you've suffered extensive nerve damage."
Your mind races wildly as you try to listen to his explanation. You wonder to yourself how this could be. You were fine when you fell into the tub. You are so consumed in your thoughts that you are barely aware that the doctor is still talking to you. He is showing you some images of your spine and describing the various parts and what is wrong. It is a bit technical but one thing is clear to you, you are paralyzed.
Tears begin to flow from your eyes as you realize what this means for your life. You wonder how you'll manage. You can't work or support yourself anymore. You don't have any real skills and menial jobs were all you could manage anyway. Now you can't even do that. You wonder how you'll survive. You don't really have any family or friends or much of anything going on in your life. You are completely alone and you know it.
" ... do you have any questions?" Dr. Wilkinson asks you breaking you from your thoughts. You try to nod your head no but it isn't as effective as you'd planned. Your motion is more limited than it would have been before. Nevertheless you do have some motor control in your head and neck. He gets the message and gives his condolences and leaves.
"I'll check on you frequently, if you need anything just push ... just call out." your nurse says to you kindly.
"A new body," you mutter bitterly to yourself still teary eyed. You try to distract yourself by focusing on how pretty your nurse is. She is a few years older than you, probably about thirty or so. She is shorter and has nice assets. Unfortunately her blue scrubs don't really show them terribly well.
As you wish you had a functional body and admire your nurse you feel warmth surging inside you. It is the first thing below your neck that you have felt since awakening in this damn hospital bed. You fearfully wonder what it could be. You aren't quite sure but it feels like something is with you, something alive.
In nearly an instant you are standing at the other end of the room. "What the hell?" you ask aloud.
You are distracted by a shrieking sound behind you. You spin around to see a woman a hospital bed. It takes you a moment to realize that it is your nurse. It takes you even longer to realize that underneath her pretty head is your broken neck and body. The instant you realize what happened you look down at yourself. You are shocked to see that you are wearing blue scrubs.
"What's going on?" your terrified nurse asks you, "Why am I in your bed?"
You look down at yourself again in more detail. You notice that you have her breasts on your chest. You reach up and tentatively touch them. They are definitely real and part of your body.
"I ... I can't be in your body," she cries in realization of her situation. "Please give it back," she pleads.
