Cathy was lucky to get a job at a shoe store, given her obsession with shoes. You arrived at the shoe store. A wave of excitement and nervousness came over you, and you couldn't help but giggle. You walked in and were immediately greeted by Gina. "Thank goodness you're here." She said relieved. "We're expecting a very busy day today."
"Good thing I came in today then!" you responded in a singsong tone. The store opened, and what started out as a few people soon turned into a large crowd. As Bobby, you thought you had no good fashion sense. Thankfully though, you were Cathy, and you were able to help all of the customers with ease.
"Those heels are great for a night out!"
"Those flats look so cute on you!"
"Definitely go with the booties."
You, as Cathy, were a pro at this.
About halfway through the day, you found yourself exhausted. Walking to the employee room, you sat down on the bench. Not fully thinking, you began to remove your wedges. Right as your foot left contact, you instantly transformed back into just the shoes. "No wait!" you thought to yourself. Cathy was relaxed on the bench, massaging her head. Soon, Gina came in. "Cathy, darling. You look tired!"
"Sorry Gina." Cathy replied. "This entire morning just whizzed by me, I don't remember anything it all!"
"Well, how about we get some coffee?" Gina asked. "I'll pay, and Miranda can take over!" Cathy got up and followed Gina, but suddenly hesitated. "Whoops, I forgot my shoes!"
"Darling don't worry about it!" Gina responded. She pulled out a pair of flats from her purse. "Take these, you owe it to yourself." Cathy put on the flats and left the store. All you could do was sit there and watch, stuck as wedge sandals. There was nothing else you could do. You watched the store from floor level. There were many customers in the store, trying on shoes, and Miranda, the other employee, was running around frantically, trying to help them all. You looked at the wide variety of shoes in the store, and a strange feeling of jealousy came over you. "I should be one of those newer shoes!" you thought to yourself. "What's the worst that could happen? My family won't mind if I'm gone for a few days."
In an event of luck, Miranda rushed out of the employee room, knocking the table with Cathy's purse. The purse fell, and the remote fell out, buttons down. You instantly stumbled backwards in your human form, with Cathy's shoes right in front of you. You quickly looked around, and thankfully Miranda was too busy to notice. You got up, put Cathy's purse back on the table, and picked up the remote. You made your way back further into the employee area, where the entire stock of the shoe store was held. You also noticed a locker half open. Out of curiosity, you opened it. The inside of the door had pictures of Miranda and her husband. Inside the locker was a leather motorcycle jacket on a hanger and black ballet flats on the top shelf.
