David handed back the phone, smirking at the size difference. It felt weird, his feet not quite touching the ground. "Did you want to go out for a bite?"
"Sure," Jamie said, standing up. With her heels, she towered over him. "Need a hand up?" She held out her hand with a practiced smirk.
"Very funny." David hopped off the chair and grabbed his jacket. In two quick strides, Jamie was at the door waiting for him. He followed, and it felt like it took forever just to cross his room. He never noticed what the difference made, but it certainly impacted everything. They walked side by side to the elevator.
David hustled just to keep up with his sister in her heels. "Do you have to wear those damn things?" he muttered. He thought about swapping shoes, but decided against it, at least for the moment.
"What's the matter, 'big' bro? Am I going too fast?" She laughed. It was like a joke she told a hundred times before, and only she found funny. He grumbled but tapped the call button to his elevator.
When they made it outside, he motioned toward the nearest restaurant. It was a local place where most of the people there were students, including the workers. Any number of them could be a source of fun with the swaps.
by the time he got the restaurant, David wasn't out of breath, but he definitely felt tired. He kind of understood why his sister wore those heels before. Being shorter kept his stride smaller, and damn if he didn't struggle to keep up with her at times.
"What's good here?" Jamie asked as she held the door for him. He used to do that for her, but now he slid right beneath her arm. His head barely touched her arm. Okay, that was kind of fun.
Stepping inside, they could take a seat anywhere. He spotted a few couples seated around the restaurant, a family of four with two preteen girls, a mother with a teenage boy and his collegiate sister, and some single people. A group of chatty girls were right behind them as well.
"Where do you want to sit?" Jamie asked. He barely heard the question. All he could think about was who he could swap with. So many options, so little time.
