Chuck drummed his fingers on the steering wheel of his car waiting impatiently for his girlfriend to come out of the airport. For the past month they had kept in touch by sending photos and talking on the phone, but that could never compare to actually holding her in his arms.
Sally was about to walk through the entrance/exit of the airport, she had her bags in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other. 'Alright, I've got a lot of stuff in my hands so he probably won't try to pick me up and realize that I've gotten heavier, he will most likely just give me a hug and he might not notice that I've gained weight.'
Sally walked out of airport and Chuck saw her in person for the first time in a month. He opened the drives side door and ran over to her, and just as she feared, he picked her up.
She held onto her coffee but lost her grip on her bags.
"I've missed you so much!" Chuck said, giving Sally a squeeze.
"I've missed you too, um could you put me down before someone steals my bags." Chuck put Sally down and picked up her bags.
"Sorry, I'm just so happy to see you after all this time," Chuck looked Sally up and down. "You haven't changed a bit!"
'At least he hasn't noticed yet.' "You're so sweet."
"We can talk more at home, I've got a surprise waiting for you there too."
Chuck took Sally's bag and put them in the trunk of his car. Sally got into the passenger seat and Chuck drove her home.
Chuck put Sally's bags down next to the door. "Okay, go into the kitchen, sit down, close your eyes and wait for your surprise."
Sally did as she was told. She heard the refrigerator door open and some thing being placed down in front of her.
"Alright open your eyes and see your surprise!" Sally's opened her eyes and saw a cake.
"D-did you make this for me? It looks wonderful!"
"Yup, I made it just for you, want a slice?"
Sally didn't want to have any or rather, she did want to eat it, but thought that came might not be the best thing for her right now, but she couldn't say no or Chuck might think something was wrong. "Okay...just a tiny slice though, I ate on the plain so I'm not that hungry."
"Oh...alright," Chuck took a knife and was Very careful about where he cut it and how he cut it, then he put the slice on a plate. "There, that should be good...I hope."
Sally picked up a fork and sunk it into the cake, it didn't seem to go to far before it hit some thing, Sally pulled the fork up and in the piece of cake was,
Nothing, she just hit the plate and she keeps eating.
A necklace, she starts crying because Chuck got her a beautiful gift, while all she got was fat.
A ring, Chuck proposes and she says...something.
