This choice: forced a pcifier into your mouth. • Go Back...Chapter #4forced a pacifier into your mouth. by: BeeJay   You were astounded at how quickly Deb put the pacifier in your mouth. "Keep an eye on her," she said to Peggy as she gathered your things. "I've got to get rid of these."
Peggy bounced you on her hip as Deb left the room. "Yes," she said, "Mom is burning your things. After all, they aren't going to do you any good anymore."
You wished you could spit the pacifier out and say a few things. But, somehow, sucking on the pacifier felt... comforting.
"Mom gave you the binkie for an important reason," Peggy said. Pulling the pacifier out of your mouth, she said, "What's on your mind?"
You tried to answer, but only vowel sounds came out. Why couldn't you speak anymore? In frustration, you began to cry.
Peggy put the pacifier back in your mouth. "You're a baby, now," she explained. "At best, you've forgotten just about everything you knew. Maybe you still remember who you were, but you don't know how to walk, how to talk, or how to use the toilet. It happened to Dad, too."
Peggy bounced you on her hip to a table. "Maybe you're wondering why we haven't disconnected any of that stuff. Well, the fact is, Dad was the one who hooked it all up. He was a little paranoid, so he never told us about what he was doing. He mentioned once that he wrote his notes in a secret code. Trouble is, now that he's a baby girl, we don't know where those notes are or what they say. Same reason we haven't called in a plumber to disconnect the shower. For all we know, the plumber might get a faceful of Dad's de-aging formula, and we'd have another kid on our hands."  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
