Night had fallen as Ruby and her Team finished changing into their pajamas and prepare to go to sleep after a long exhausting day with their classes. If you could put Professor/Doctor Oobleck's class as THE source of their exhaustion of just trying to write any notes down on what he was saying at all!
But while Weiss and Blake are studying/reading respectfully, and Yang was looking something up on her scroll, Ruby meanwhile was sitting on her bunk and started to rub her shoulder with a frown on her face.
"Something wrong sis?" Yang asked when she glanced at her little sister and noticed her expression.
This caught both Weiss and Blake's attention as they looked at their leader curiously.
"I don't know... I've been feeling a bit odd since this morning." Ruby replied as she continued to rub her shoulder with uncertainty.
"Since this morning? If you were feeling sick, then why didn't you say anything?" Weiss asked, annoyed that her partner may have been sick the whole day but never said a peep that she was "feeling odd" and could've jeopardized the team if she "felt" worse.
Ruby pouted as she slapped her knees in response, "I did not feel sick! It's just something I can't explain."
"... I'm guessing..." Yang started and (much to the team's dismay) smirked, "You're probably having some growing pains. Which means dad's Xiao Long trait must be... "Kicking" in!" She joked while using one of her legs in a kicking motion to put a little more emphasis.
The rest of the Team groaned and could've sworn they heard an audible "Boo!" from team JNPR's dorm as Ruby threw one of her pillows squarely into Yang's face before removing her sleep mask and hopped off her (hanging) top bunk bed.
"I'll be using the bathroom for a bit." Ruby said and walked off to the bathroom while her sister bemoaned why she got hit in the face for her "masterpiece", resulting in Weiss and Blake to collectively facepalm and sigh at the blonde before going back to their own devices.
After closing the bathroom behind her, Ruby sighed before walking toward the sinks and looked into the mirror. All the while Yang's "joke" earlier was still echoing in her head as she examined herself.
The idea of having a quote on quote "growing pains" was something Ruby has some mixed feelings. While becoming a bit taller or maybe as tall as her sister is one thing, she would rather not want to stick out so much if she grew so tall. After all, Ruby would rather be a normal (even if a taller) girl than be the center of attention.
But she was soon cut from her own thoughts when her body suddenly started to heat up quickly, causing Ruby to gasp in shock and grasp the sink counter as she started to feel dizzy.
"What's happening t-to me?" Ruby stuttered as the heat built up more causing her to buckle on her knees while still holding onto the counter and close her eyes tightly, praying that this would all end quickly.
Much to her relief, it did end and Ruby opened her eyes and raised herself up on the sink counter.
As she tried to regain her bearings, she noticed something felt... off about her clothes. Confused, Ruby looked down at herself and blinked as she noticed that her stomach and legs are showing more skin than usual. She also felt her tank tops straps are somewhat digging into her shoulders.
"Huh? Did my pajama's just got smaller all of a sudden..." Ruby trailed off as she looked back at the mirror and stepped back in shock to see that her clothes did indeed look smaller on her but also that the sinks seemed lower from her perspective!
"D-did I just grew?!" Ruby mentally screamed as she doubled and tripled checked herself in disbelief going as far as to pinch herself thinking this is all just a dream only to feel pain and see that her new perspective had not changed.
"Oww~. Okay, so it wasn't a dream. I actually did grew taller! ...somehow." Ruby trailed off as she checked herself out in the mirror in wonder and tried to estimate how tall she is now.
"Am I almost as tall as... Yang?" Ruby guessed as she recalls that her sister is about 5'8" if she remembers correctly.
Still, she couldn't help but be worried as she looked at her hands, "But there's no way anyone could grow this quickly right? Maybe... there's something wrong with me-"
She didn't get to finish her sentence as the heat from before suddenly returned and that was when she noticed that her pajama's started to feel even tighter as the straps dig into her shoulders and her stomach and legs showing even more skin! Moreover, she noticed that the floor seemed to be moving away from her point of view.
"I'm... I'm getting bigger?!"
She was soon snapped out of her shock when the straps snapped and the top half of her shirt fell, exposing her now tighter bra trying to contain her (not) expanding breasts from bursting out.
Blushing, Ruby tried to raise her shirt back up but soon heard the sound of fabric ripping and saw that her trousers are being ripped apart as her ankles are now exposed. To her dismay, the rest of her shirt is also ripping apart in several places as she continued to grow.
"Nononono! Please stop growing!" Ruby pleaded with her body as she (futilely) tried to keep her clothes together and mentally prayed that she would stop growing before she gets too big for her clothes!
