The only detail Joey left out was about the dream where Yugi had locked lips with him to blow him up. The conversation was awkward enough as it was, and he felt Yugi didn't need to know his best friend was dreaming about making out with him.
"Huh...all kind of the same," Yugi pondered as he laid back in his bedroom. "And they started last week?"
"Yep." Joey's head was laying on the desk in Yugi's bedroom. Yugi didn't offer a spot on his own bed lest his friend might pass out when recalling his dreams. "Even when I go back to sleep, they're there."
"Hmm... well, I don't kn-"
"Yugi. I have an idea." Yami had chimed in inside Yugi's head.
"What do you have in mind?" he replied internally to his other self.
"There might be a way for me to...enter Joey's dreams. I can observe what is going on and find out the cause of these strange dreams."
"That's pretty invasive," Yugi said. "It's not like we can ask him for permission for you to enter his dreams. He could end up dreaming about something really personal that he doesn't want me to know about."
"True, but you do you have anything better in mind?"
Yugi thought for a moment. "Joey, bad dreams are kind of like a song that's stuck in your head."
Joey picked his head up and shot Yugi an incredulous look. "...huh?"
"The way I get songs out of my head is by listening to them. I think the same is kinda true for dreams. When I was younger, I used to have nightmares all of the time of monsters in the basement attacking me. They only went away once I started going into the basement and realizing that it wasn't scary and that I wasn't going to be attacked by vampire bats. I stopped having those dreams almost immediately."
The blonde boy laid his head back down on Yugi's desk. "Great idea, Yug. But people don't turn into blimps in real life, even if I wanted to."
"Yeah, but...that soda dream!" Yugi exclaimed. "That's something that can happen in real life! Not the whole getting really full thing, but maybe chugging down a load of soda will help get whatever monkey off your back and get rid of those dreams!"
"Yug, you're crazy," groaned Joey.
"Well, do you have a better idea?" replied Yugi.
"Yeah. Wait it out. They came one day. They'll go away one day," said Joey. "I guess I'll be stuck feeling tired and miserable in the meantime."
