"So I was wondering if you could help me switch with Carmen," you say with a wicked grin.
"Don't be such a freak, John! This isn't funny anymore," Erica protests. Then she adds, in a quieter voice, "I was always a bit afraid of what could happen if one of your crazy magic things actually worked..."
"Look, just be glad I didn't keep your body," you say. "I want to try being a girl for a while, so I'm going to switch with Carmen and you're going to help me be a convincing chick, okay?"
"And what's Carmen going to have to say about that?"
"Eh, if she doesn't like it, we can let her think she's stuck as me for a while."
Erica frowns at you, but you can sense a hint of fear in her eyes. "...Fine. But whatever happens is your fault, so don't come crying to me."
"Oh, I won't. You hear enough crying already."
Erica looks distinctly unamused. She sighs deeply. "Let's get this over with, then. Drink the stupid water."
You refill the magic bowl and take a drink from it, then offer it to Erica, who is clearly reluctant to touch it again.
"Now you go get Carmen to drink some," you say. She sighs again, takes the bowl and leaves the attic without another word. You walk into a corner, lean against the wall and tap your foot while you wait for your perspective to shift again.
Sure enough, less than a minute later you suddenly find yourself down in the kitchen with a grumpy-looking Erica standing in front of you. You look down at yourself and discover...
