Chapter #5

An anxious mom waits.

    by: Unknown
Elizabeth's POV

I was sitting in the waiting area all by myself. There was nobody around and there were only a few old magazines lying on the table that I already read before. Nevertheless seeing as there was nothing else for me to do, I decided to read them again. It did not however made me stop me thinking about my children. My children who were willing to swap their bodies to help their parents with their own problems. A mortgage which shouldn't even be known to them. I felt terrible about it, the only thought keeping me up was the fact that David and Cassandra were twins which made the swapping process easier for them and for us.

It was only then that I noticed Gloria, Dr. Thomas' assistant standing there looking at me. I immediately stood up as I thought she came to get me.

"You can sit down again Mrs. Mason Dr. Thomas is still busy. And no nothing has gone wrong." Gloria said as she sat next to me.

"Oh it was just that I thought."

"Yes I understand it. You're worried about your children." Gloria stated to which I nodded.

"I hope I get the same feelings with this one here." Gloria said pointing at her stomach.

"How far are you?" I asked interested.

"Seven months. I wished the little one would come out already, I can hardly wait for it." Gloria said excited.

"Seven months? But if I may ask why are you still at work?" I asked curious.

"Because of this major discovery we made. I was just about to go home and stay when we discovered the NeuroGen. It was too good to be true and I just couldn't stay at home and do nothing. I'm not one to sit on the fence."

I nodded to her statement. How I wished I went to college and got a job, but sadly that life wasn't meant for me. The thought still haunts me though especially on days when it's all calm and quiet. I would wish I could go out and about and have my own life earning my own money. Not that I hated that Philip was the one bringing in the money, it was just that sometimes I wished I could get something for myself. A nice dress or some high heels.

"Me and Dr. Thomas had a talk after Philip talked to your husband. We are looking for another test subject for the experiment."

"W-Why ask me? I mean aren't the kids enough?" I asked confused.

"The results we would be getting from them would be helpful indeed, however the more research data we the better results we receive. Dr. Thomas is willing to pay you another fifty thousand dollar."

Fifty thousand dollars. With that money we could do so much, it was so tempting to do it. And as an added benefit I would have a new body. But then...

"Does that mean it will not be someone from my family?" I asked her to which Gloria shook her head.

"I'm sorry, but we have someone picked out already. The question is only if you're agreeing to it." Gloria asked looking me straight into her eyes. The offer was too good to be true and besides the person who would be getting my body would get a fifty thousand dollars as well. That meant the money would come to the good of the family.

"Very well, I'll do it." I said with a shaky voice. "Do I need to go somewhere?"

"Yes just follow me please. I'll show you who you're going to swap with." Gloria said leading me to another room. There I saw....
