Liara's brain went off like a sparkler as the first taste of the ration block hit her. It was sweet like candy, but melted into a deep, savory flavor, two tastes that shouldn't go together but somehow magically co-existed, making her heartbeat sound off in excitement. The soft block melted in her mouth, and every physical sensation was ecstasy. By the Goddess, it was...
"Ohhhh..."
Liara gasped as she realized a moan escaped her mouth while she was in the throes of ration-induced pleasure. Blushing purple, she swallowed the lump of ration in her mouth, wiping a bit of the liquid it left behind from her lips.
"I uh, take it you liked it?" Ashley asked, not quite meeting Liara's gaze as her own cheeks turned pink.
"It's incredible!" Liara admitted shamelessly, lifting up the ration block. "I've never had anything so delectable as this! And the Krogans made this?"
"I did read somewhere that nutrient dense minerals that Krogans usually use in rations were abnormally flavorful," Ashley leaning down to pick up the box the ration came in. "Apparently the nutrients were briefly popular in human cuisine before we realized they also contained massive amounts of...uh, Liara?"
Ashley watched as her colleague, licking her fingers clean of the ration block, hungrily reached for the rest of the loaf. She was too surprised to react until the Asari took a massive bite out of it before dividing it up.
"By the Goddess, it's so good!" Liara moaned through a mouthful of it as she took another bite.
"Uh, I don't think you're supposed to eat more then one..." Ashley said, reaching for the loaf. "You're gonna-"
Ashley yelped as Liara slapped her hand away before taking another bite. "No! I want this!" the ration-obsessed Liara snapped at her as she took another huge mouthful."
"Seriously, one of those is a lot for Krogans!" the human insisted, trying to reach for it again.
"No!" Liara yelled, standing up and smearing the juices from the ration loaf on her cheek. "Mine!"
"Liara!" Ashley said, trying to approach but being held back by Liara's other hand as she greedily munched down, the stand-off quickly devolving into a slap fight.
"Mine!"
"Ow! Liara!"
"Mine!"
"Bitch, knock it off, or-"
"Mine!!!"
"Give me that thing or I'll-!"
"MINE!!!"
Ashley's hands were smeared with the black goop from that ration by the time she grabbed both of Liara's arms, but the damage was done. Liara fixed her with a look like a defiantly smug toddler, chewing and swallowing the very last of the ration loaf, making sure to lick what was left of it off her lips before letting out a hearty belch. "Mine!" the Asari repeated cheerfully.
*smack*
Liara gasped and collapsed onto the floor, clutching her cheek as she came down from her ration loaf high via a firm slap from her squadmate. Blinking back painful tears, her thoughts cleared as she looked up at Ashley, who herself looked concerned and scared. "Th-thanks, I needed that," Liara said quietly, her voice quivering. "I...I don't know what came over me." She rubbed her face and saw her hand come back in the same dark color as the ration. No blood or lasting damage, but she was still a bit scared.
"This was a bad idea," Ashley said, pacing nervously. "This was a really bad idea."
"I-it's just a ration," Liara murmured.
"Yeah, something that's supposed to last Krogans for MONTHS!" Ashley shouted. "And you fucking ate the whole thing!" After a moment of stunned silence, Liara got back to her feet again and Ashley stopped pacing, taking a deep breath to cool off.
"I'm sorry, I should have controlled myself more," the Asari said quietly, her stomach already twisting itself in knots. Was that a guilty feeling she wondered, or the food doing something unexpected?
"I shouldn't have gone and got you on this stupid Krogan food idea," Ashley admitted. "God knows what it's gonna do to you. You're not feeling sick, are you?"
Liara pondered for a moment, trying to think rationally.
