While Chon and Chang embraced, I heard Jenny crying in the back of my mind. I turned to the woman who was confirmed to be Jenny's grandmother, Maria who smiled at me kindly. "You are not dead but you are here in a solid ghostly form." Calmly, she explained. "That said, your physical body lies in a coma in your world. I can hear dear Jenny crying too but my physical self is unattached from that world."
"How can I reach her?" Worried, I demanded.
"Just think of her and send a mental response." Smiling, Maria said. "Your body will respond and speak for you." She then raised a finger in warning. "Tell her nothing of this world as there is no guarantee she will see me here when she passes."
I nodded and sent a response. "Do not fear, Jenny. Chon and I are on a secret mission that requires us to be in a state astral projection. I will give a full report upon my return. Take care of our physical selves until then."
Maria held back a giggle once I had sent the message. "You should know Jenny hates cryptic messages." Lightly scolding, she said. "She will be summoning everyone she knows to figure out what is going on."
"I still don't know what is going on." Serious, I replied.
"You are in a parallel universe." Serious, Chang explained. "In your world, magic is the reigning power which is geared solely for girls with boys having a magic that is physically based."
"In this universe, chaotic science is the reigning power which is geared solely for boys with girls having the magic that is elementally based." Turning serious, Maria added.
Chang nodded. "We have contacts in your world that tell us rogue witches are about to attempt to open a portal to a mythological realm of pure raw magic." Darkly, he said. "Here, there is a group of mad scientists trying to make a portal to other Earths in our universe."
"From the reports we are receiving, the two experiments will be executed at exactly the same time and date." Serious, the strange man said. "We fear that the two experiments will open a portal, linking our two worlds."
"This is Neon Erratic, head of the Failure Oversight Department." Serious, Chang said. "He answers to Devlin Moray, the head mad scientist."
I nodded but said nothing. Neon Erratic was a tall and dark man with red eyes and a bald head. He wore an expensive looking suit with a white lab coat covering it. I caught a glimpse of a gun and sword in a sheath and holster at his sides.
"What do you need us to do?" Serious, Chon demanded.
"We need your help to stop or at least slow down these experiments so the disaster we fear will not occur." Softly, Chang said. "You can either help us here or I can come to your world temporarily to help you there."
Chon turned to me. I knew he was searching for my input but I also knew he did not want to lose his brother again after just finding him. It was time like this I wished crazy shit didn't happen in my life.
