Chapter #6He hides you by: Abc314 Jeremy quickly unzips his backpack and stuffs you inside. You are launched directly to the bottom of the nearly empty bag, and you land hard. The cloth bottom barely cushions your impact, so the landing is only slightly less painful than being blasted against the linoleum tile. You bounce once and lie still, dazed.
"Sorry, miss, I'll put it away," Jeremy said. You rub your head and sit up, sore and aching. A notebook towers over you on one side, and a hard plastic pencil case lies on the other side.
"Honestly, Jeremy. You shouldn't even be bringing your toys to school. This is a place of learning," the teacher lectured.
"Sorry miss," he apologized again.
"Don't apologize to me. Apologize for wasting your classmates' time."
"Sorry for wasting your time," Jeremy said. The apologies were sounding less sincere each time, but apparently the teacher was satisfied.
"Don't let me catch you playing with toys again or we're going to have a very serious talk... in detention," the teacher warned.
You continue looking around your surroundings, trying to figure out how to escape. The notebook is tall enough to reach the unzipped mouth of the backpack, but it's a hardcover and is far too slick to give you any grip. The cloth of the backpack itself is rough, but not enough to give you a good climbing surface. When you try to, the fabric folds over, making the climbing nearly impossible as you try to scale a surface that is steeper than vertical--it hangs over you. You consider using the pencil case as a ramp, but it's too heavy to move, although you can just barely open it. Inside is a barely-used eraser, a heavy-looking pen, and two short pencils that both showed bite marks from being chewed on. Yuck. You might be able to rig something up with the pencils if you can get over touching them, but just as you're having this thought, the bell rings. Quick as a flash, the opening above you widens and an enormous textbook moves towards you.
