It'll have to be something simple, May thought, something I can use whenever and not have it blow up in my face. And then I'll need to make sure I have the time to use it.
Then it hit her. The trainer's face visibly lit up as she turned back to Jirachi.
"I've made my decision," May said. "I wish that to always be full of energy, to never need any rest ever again!"
Jirachi tilted its head to one side. "Huh. Sounds kinda cool. Mind if I ask where you're going with this?"
"Well..." May absentmindedly scratched the back of her head. "See, my mom used to always talk about how much more time we'd all have if we didn't have to sleep or take breaks, and I kinda started agreeing with her after a while. Plus, I could always use more training."
"Wouldn't your Pokemon get tired?"
"No, I mean training myself, like exercise and stuff. I think my Pokemon are strong enough as is."
The shiny Pokemon nodded. "Alright, cool. Lemme just whip that up, then."
Its wish tags began to glow a bright white, followed by the rest of its body. May shielded her eyes as the light engulfed the entire temple. A tingling sensation swept over the trainer's skin, faint at first, but it grew stronger with each passing second. Her mind began urging her to run, to jump, to do something. She might have, too, if she weren't blinded by the shiny Jirachi's obnoxious light.
"'Kay, have fun with that. Oh, and I threw in a little something extra."
The light finally dimmed down, and May opened her eyes. The temple was once again empty, not counting herself and the chest Jirachi was in. The tingling feeling was still with her, and had her whole body nearly thrumming with nervous energy. May's fingers twitched. She had to do something, anything physically demanding.
"I think I'll take a nice little jog around the island."
At that, she was off like a rocket. The wind whipped past her as she darted into the forest, drawing curious glances from the wild Pokemon. May payed them no mind. As the trainer weaved her way through the many trees and bushes, she reveled in how her body showed no signs of fatigue. No panting, no burning sensation in her chest, not even a single drop of sweat down her brow.
"That Jirachi's a real miracle worker!" May exclaimed.
It would take her some time before she finally reached the edge of the forest, and even longer before making it to the coast, but she didn't care. She had all the time in the world, and all the energy to take advantage of that.
------
The sun had set hours ago. Only the (very) occasional tourist or trainer would pop up. Even the nocturnal Pokemon species were rather few and far between, though May assumed most of them just stuck to the forest. Though her run had slowed to a jog, she felt no less tired than when she started. If anything, she was feeling even better.
I wonder if I should take a second lap. That wish has worked wonders so far, but it might... Wait, didn't I already pass the port?
Sure enough, May found herself jogging past the Lostworld Island port for the second time that night. Two laps around the island without her realizing it, and she wasn't even remotely tired. A giggle escaped the trainer's lips.
"Works like a charm," she whispered to herself. "At least for now. Maybe one more lap. Or two. Or maybe until morning. Yeah, morning sounds good."
------
Light peaked over the horizon as May approached the port for the fourth time in a row. Her jog lasted all night, and she was only just now slowing down to a walk. Curiously, the trainer's clothes were feeling a bit more snug than she remembered. Humming in thought, and with a slight bounce in her step, May headed over to the port's hotel. Said hotel's glass double door presented a perfect reflection of the trainer, showing off her...
