This choice: Her mentor in the dark arts • Go Back...Chapter #4Bloody Reunions by: MadJack Slipping into her new tight-fitting black dress, Lydia left her isolated tower, heading deeper in the forest. Certainly, there couldn't be a better way to welcome her new self than to reunite with her old mentor, and former flame. Lord Dante, as he was known, was descended from a long and decadent family line, which lived in their expansive estate deep in the forest. Of course, what many in Widowwood didn't suspect was that Dante was a vampire; indeed, the last three generations of his "family" had simply been Dante adapting different guises to displace suspicion about his true nature.
Lydia had discovered the truth about him quite by accident, but Dante had been amused by her interest in the dark arts, and gladly supported her. There had also been some... indiscretions. Lydia wasn't proud of her affair with him, particularly when she realized that it was simply a game to him, carrying no emotional weight. Still, his knowledge and training had been invaluable.
As she got further into the forest, Lydia began to ruminate on the bad times, as well. Although a skillful dark mage, Dante was incredibly vain and arrogant. Indeed, one of the reasons he hadn't become as skilled as she had with his magic is because his immortality and decadence robbed him of any great need to improve his skills. No, Dante took much more pleasure in getting hangers-on like a young Lydia to fawn over his skills. And when Lydia's skills reached a level that meant teaching her further would require actual effort on Dante's part, his simply discarded her. At the time, she'd been crushed.
"Hmm," she mused to herself, as his estate came into view; as always, it was so deep in the forest that the huge trees completely obscured sunlight from reaching its grounds. "Perhaps it's my turn to crush him. Turnabout is fair play."
Of course, she decided, that may be too far. She could still enjoy her body with him. Or...perhaps he could turn her. Adding the abilities of a vampire to her own demonic powers would certainly produce...interesting results.
She needed to decide, soon. She was approaching the doors to his mansion. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
