Angie Tries to fix the Dictaphone

    by: Wokod Author IconMail Icon
Angie stopped in her tracks. Could she really go at school dressed like this? She had just grown a full feet without explanation! And what if her parents saw her like this? Angie locked herself in her bedroom, hoping she'd find a solution, or at least, find a way to tell her family she had just grown a full feet within a few seconds.

"Angie, hurry up, you'll be late! said her mother.
- I'm... errr... sick! she answered. I can barely get up!
- Are you sure?"

Angie ran to her bed as her mother came to check on her. Her taller body hidden under the blankets, Angie was safe. She just had time to stick her head to the closest lamp, so when her mother touched her forehead, she frowned.

"You seem to have a fever. Do you think you need an appointment with a doctor?
- No, mom, I can feel it, it's just a little fever, I'll probably be better tomorrow... now, hurry up too, or you'll be late for work!
- You're right. Take care, Angie, and call if you feel too sick, okay? I'll come back to pick you up and bring you to see a doctor.
- Thanks mom!"

As soon as she heard her parents car leaving, Angie got out of her bed, and noticed the torn paper with the weird poem next to the dictaphone. Wait... weird things happened after she spoke things out loud next to it! Could it be the truth?

"My walls are pale blue!" said Angie pushing the record button of the device. The thing made a weird, worrying sound, and to Angie's shock, her walls went blue. She tried something else, just to make sure : "My clothes are my size!"

But this time, the dictaphone made a few sparkles, and Angie dropped it from surprise. And nothing changed.

"No way! said Angie, hopeless. This thing can change reality itself, it was given to me and I broke it! I'm so stupid!"

She covered her mouth, realizing this wasn't the kind of thing to say next to a broken, magical recorder.

"Maybe I can fix it?"

Angie tried to record : "This dictaphone is fixed!" but again, only sparkles got out of it. The record button was stuck, the device itself covered with cracks... okay, maybe if she repeated it enough, at some point, it would detect her voice just like it did for her walls and repair the device?
