Chapter #4

A musical rivalry

"Well, I was kinda wondering why you were so angry before. You know, back on my first day here." You asked her nervously.

"Oh, you wanna know about the blackout? Man, I'm still getting crap from Nefernina about that... It really wasn't anything that spectacular. Just a little conflict of interests. You know Mavis is a singer, right?"

"Yeah, what about her?"

"Well, the day before you moved in, I was gonna have a DJ gig in this new place that was opening up in town. Everything was goin' just fine, but then that banshee bitch came in out of nowhere and decided to upstage me! The manager ended up choosing her singing over my DJ skills, so she got to take over my gig while I ended up with diddly squat! That little bit of static that you saw when you showed up was just my way of getting back at her for moving in on my turf."

"Wow, that must've been rough... So are you to like rivals or something?" You asked curiously.

"Hah, as if! That banshee isn't even worth the dirt off the bottoms of my talons! I don't know what people see in her. Her singing sounds like nails on a chalk board." Elle replied, crossing her feathered arms in frustration.

You just sighed, not knowing what to say. Since you didn't respond, Elle decided to speak up again.

"So, shrimp, is there anything else you want from me, or are you just here to drag up bad memories."

"Oh, I'm really sorry! I didn't mean to bring up anything that you were trying to forget." You said nervously, worrying that you had gotten yourself on Elle's bad side.

Much to your relief, the giantess harpy simply started to laugh.

"Eh, don't worry about it, little guy. It's not like any of it was your fault or anything... Say, I have an idea! Since you don't seem to have anything better to do, how about you and I..."
